Municipal Authority of Buffalo Township Water Treatment Plant Operator in Sarver, Pennsylvania
General:
The Water Treatment Plant Operator will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the water treatment plant and grounds. This position will be full-time at 40 hours per week, 7 a.m. -- 3 p.m.; Tuesday through Saturday with occasional overtime. To a significant degree, duties will be set by the routine operating procedures; however, the employee must exercise independent judgment in cases of emergencies involving process control.
Typical Duties:
- Start up, shut down, and make periodic checks of the plant equipment, pumping station, chemical feed systems, disinfection systems, and plant and pump station grounds.
- Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance in all areas of the physical plant. Preventative maintenance will include lubrication, operating adjustments, cleaning and painting.
- Inspect and test operating equipment and valves at frequent intervals during the scheduled shift.
- Monitor the status of system operating guidelines such as flows, feed rates and effluent water quality indicators. This will involve collecting representative water samples and performing required laboratory testing.
- Maintain plant records including daily operating logs, chemical inventories, data logs, and maintenance logs on machinery.
- Make arithmetic calculations to determine proper process control and water quality.
- Maintain necessary supplies by ordering chemicals, repair parts, and tools, as necessary.
- Conducting safety inspections and following all safety rules.
- Any other duties necessary to maintain the proper operation of the public water and collection system of the Authority.
Qualifications:
- High School Graduate
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be able to pass background check, drug test and physical.
- Previous experience in the industry is required. Knowledge of membrane filtration is desirable.
- PA Water Treatment Plant Operator's License Class B,E-6,8,12,13 (or the ability to obtain a license within 6 months)
- Close proximity to job location is preferred.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
