Herbruck Poultry Ranch EHS Specialist in Saranac, Michigan
Position Summary:
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting and promoting a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. This role partners with leadership and team members to implement safety programs, ensure regulatory compliance, investigate incidents, and drive a culture of continuous safety improvement across assigned locations with regular local travel between sites. Responsibilities:
Adhere to Herbruck’s biosecurity protocols for multi-site travel.
Implement & support company EHS policies, procedures, and programs, including continuous improvement initiatives.
Conduct safety audits, inspections, & risk assessments.
Identify hazards & recommend corrective & preventive actions.
Lead/assist incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action tracking
Support injury management, workers’ compensation, and return-to-work programs.
Monitor safety metrics & prepare reports.
EHS training, including the ability to operate powered industrial equipment and provide operator training.
Maintain required documentation, logs, permits, and records (OSHA 300, inspections, training records, etc.) in an audit-ready manner; support regulatory inspections as needed.
Promote employee engagement in safety programs, committees, and initiatives.
Support EHS program development and continuous improvement.
Excellent communication skills.
Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety, Occupational Safety, or related field, or equivalent experience.
1-3 years of EHS, safety, or compliance experience.
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations & safety management systems.
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites
Does not own or maintain regular contact with birds, pigs, cattle, sheep, goats, or unprocessed eggs.
Physical Demands:
Ability to walk & stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
Ability to climb ladders and work at height.
Ability to work in operational environments.
