O que buscamos:

The Lawyer position within the Business Services Group, reporting to the Legal Manager Commercial Counsel provides legal support to business operations, with a primary focus on commercial and/or corporate matters. The role supports compliance with applicable laws and internal policies and assists in safeguarding the company’s interests in commercial transactions. The position involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating standard to moderately complex contracts, including sales, services, distribution, confidentiality, and selected intellectual property, or commercial agreements, primarily within assigned regions or business segments. The Lawyer proactively supports internal stakeholders on contractual matters and legal risks identification, escalating complex, high-risk, or multi-jurisdictional issues to senior legal team members as appropriate. The role requires strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Procurement, R&D, Tax, Treasury, Credit, EHS, and HR. The Lawyer contributes the improvement of internal legal processes under guidance, and ensures the timely execution and management of contracts.

What will be expected from you?

  • Timely turnaround of contract reviews and responses to internal requests.

  • Quality and accuracy of legal advice provided, measured by stakeholder feedback and reduction in contractual risks.

  • Successful negotiation and execution of contracts supporting business objectives.

  • Proactive identification and mitigation of legal risks.

  • Effective dissemination and maintenance of legal knowledge and documentation within the team.

  • Contribution to business results by enabling compliant, efficient, and risk-minimized transactions.

  • Engagement in cross-functional collaboration and support for business initiatives.

  • Maintenance of high ethical standards and compliance with company policies.

What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?

  • JD or equivalent degree from an accredited university.

  • Minimum of 5 years of business and commercial experience in law firm or as in-house counsel. Experience supporting a chemical manufacturing company in a similar role is a plus.

  • Required: Fluency in English, both verbal and written, including resume.

  • Must have a solid legal experience in general corporate and commercial matters, including experience with UCC-governed contracts.

  • Must be able to handle large workload while prioritizing, work independently, manage client expectations and be well organized.

  • Must have strong influencing capability, high energy and take initiative.

  • Proficient in utilization of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to present to large and small groups, at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to effectively communicate, interface and negotiate at all levels of the organization and with outside entities

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.

  • Ability to work directly and remotely with all levels of the organization.

  • Participates and leads Legal Department initiatives as set forth by the company.

Travel:

Approximately 10% travel primarily in the Bahia and São Paulo states area with occasional international travel.
