Purpose of Job

Contributes to the overall success of the Business Risk Management Retail unit, ensuring specific individual goals,

plans, initiatives are executed/delivered supporting Caribbean Retail & Digital business strategies and objectives.

The Senior Manager ensures that integrated and comprehensive business controls are in place to reinforce a

strong risk and control culture and acts as a subject matter expert in establishing non-financial and regulatory

controls to support business strategies, plans, and initiatives, following governing regulations, internal policies,

and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide subject matter expertise and collaboration to Retail & Digital business units in the Caribbean region

by establishing appropriate non-financial risk controls which support business plan growth, increase

productivity, mitigate risk, and provide consistent customer experience.

• Coordinate and provide oversight of non-financial risk controls and remediation efforts for the Caribbean

Retail & Digital business units; ensuring operational deficiencies are addressed and operational soundness is

maintained. Proactive follow-up to ensure that commitments made are delivered on a timely basis.

• Provide oversight, ongoing monitoring, support, and independent review to ensure effective and efficient risk

assessment and adequate controls are in place within the supported Retail & Digital business units.

• Support the Director in all aspects of major strategic internal control change initiatives, leveraging process and

technology solutions that can be shared across IB and providing consistency with Bank models.

• Manage and enhance operations and processes that support Retail and Digital business controls across

IB jurisdictions and various divisional non-financial risk guidelines.

• Lead and collaborate ongoing monitoring and independent review to ensure effective and efficient risk

assessment and adequate controls are in place within the supported Retail units.

• Lead the implementation of control governance frameworks and guidelines in Retail and Digital business to

adhere compliance and address best practices as required.

• Support Retail and Digital business Risk owners in the Caribbean regions to define risk appetite, metrics, and

thresholds for ongoing monitoring including developing sub-business line Risk Appetite Statements.

• Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership team in each business area, ensuring challenges and issues are

addressed effectively.

• Identify key divisional internal control processes for re-engineering, aligning policies, and procedures.

• Provide support to the supported Retail units in case of control breakdowns, providing guidance on action

plan and escalating to relevant executives.

• Monitor events within the supported Retail units, identifying new and emerging issues, regulatory initiatives,

and providing insight to Senior Leadership.

• Manage and monitor how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day

activities and decisions.

• Enable a stronger risk culture through ongoing coaching on risk and controls and training on the Operational

Risk Framework and tools.

• Lead and collaborate with the implementation of business procedures and controls related to such policies

are consistent with best practices and are adhered to by the Retail team, centrally and locally to ensure

consistent application of key controls which contribute to sustained improvement of risk key performance

indicators across IB Retail & Digital business units.

• Monitor and support the implementation and delivery of operational risk metrics and indicators to ensure

adherence to the regional/country risk appetite.

• Support and provide guidance on ongoing and additional IB Retail & Digital business projects as required.

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank

relationships, systems, and knowledge.

Requirement

• University Undergraduate Degree.

• +7 years of Business Line Risk management work experience.

• Superior written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate should be fully

bilingual (English/Spanish)

• Previous experience in Global Risk Management / Compliance / Audit would be an asset

the organization.

• Superior Project Management skills and excellent skills in relationships and general business

management.

• Superior problem-solving techniques and a proactive approach to activity completion, often

with minimum supervision.

• Expert ability to balance competing/ conflicting goals of various stakeholders, requiring a

mature, diplomatic approach and highly developed negotiation and influencing skills.

• Highly developed cultural sensitivity to operate effectively across cultural and language

differences.

Thorough knowledge of:

• Internal control & Risk Management policies/processes/platforms/protocols

• The Bank's operational policies, procedures, systems, and organizational structure

• Retail, Small Business, and Insurance products and services, including supporting systems,

routines and operating procedures, and external indicator reports
