You ensure technical and engineering programs are delivered and aligned with Mondelēz International worldwide goals. You have full technical responsibility for executing capital projects, technical development, and feasibility perspectives on engineering-related activities in the supply chain to support growth, world-class manufacturing and productivity with the highest level of quality, safety and environmental requirements. To ensure adherence to Mondelēz standards, you follow Mondelēz business and innovation processes in project management. As a member of the management team, you interact with senior-level clients and the technical community.

How you will contribute

You will be responsible for strategic capital plan and projects within your scope, their quality and related process parameters, and the implementation and results and ensure they are completed under Mondelēz standards for business and innovation processes in project management and execution. During the development phase of mid to large capital investment initiatives, you will assign project resources and define and deliver the capital and technical agenda to key stakeholders to provide accurate budgets, plans and fit-for-purpose technical solutions. You will work with business development and supply chain directors to develop capital budgets according to the contract and the forecast cash flow. In addition, you will ensure that applicable engineering developments and standards are implemented; develop and implement state-of-the-art processes and equipment strategies to optimize resources, harmonize assets and rollout best practices; and assign and manage engineering resource and people management and development needs.

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Sr Manager, Project Engineering for the Mexico business. This critical role will oversee engineering operations across different manufacturing sites, including Gums, Candies, Biscuits, Jellies, Meals, and Chocolate, driving significant business growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead and develop a large team of engineers, ensuring high technical capability, effective project execution, and strong performance delivery.

  • Portfolio Management: Own and execute an annual portfolio, encompassing over 100 diverse projects. This includes initiatives for capacity expansion, innovation, automation, cost savings, and compliance.

  • End-to-End Project Delivery: Drive the complete project lifecycle from design and procurement through installation, commissioning, and start-up, consistently meeting stringent targets for safety, quality, cost, and schedule.

  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Supply Chain, Quality, R&D, Finance, and Operations to support strategic business growth initiatives and uphold operational excellence standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in leading large-scale engineering and CAPEX organizations within a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong background in managing complex projects across multiple sites and diverse product categories (e.g., food, confectionery).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage significant capital budgets and deliver projects on time and within budget.

  • Exceptional leadership skills with experience in developing and mentoring large engineering teams.

  • Deep understanding of project management methodologies and tools.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
