Job Summary and Responsibilities
Job Details Job Summary Under general supervision of the Cardiac Cath Lab charge Nurse functions as a member of the Cardiac Cath team. Maintains a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization. Provides direct patient care, assessment, planning and intervention. Operates physiologic monitoring recorder and all related Cath Lab equipment. Assists with patient and procedure preparation. Functions as a scrub assistant during cardiac catheterization. Shares on-call work schedule.
The RN is responsible for supporting efforts to improve clinical and service excellence of patient care provided. RN s must be able to identify and apply care skills appropriate to the specific patient age groups served. The RN will participate in the achievement of service targets and process goals. For the staff nurse III and IV, it is the responsibility of the RN to complete the requirements, and obtain the appropriate approvals, and submit the required information by the designated timeframes found in the SNAP policy # 8610-420.
Administers prescribed medications and intravenous solutions according to standards of care and hospital protocols.
Assesses pain level in all patients using "0-10", "Faces", or other approved scale to promote comfort and enable patients to participate in their healing Identifies comfort function goals with patients
Provides timely/appropriate assessment/intervention
Reports significant observed or reported alterations in the patient's condition: Reports to the appropriate Physician, Clinical Supervisor, Nurse Manager, or Preceptor
Consistently models Dignity Health Patient Satisfaction standards.
Demonstrates respect for/protection of patient rights. Knocks/asks permission to enter patient rooms Monitors patient conversations in public spaces Closes door/draws curtain when providing care Arranges patient translators when needed Advise patients of rights and consent forms.
Addresses the physiological, psychosocial and spiritual needs of each patient. Contacts/makes referrals to Physicians, Social Worker/ Case Management, and/or Chaplain Services as appropriate
Labels lab specimens, maintaining the performance standard of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens.
Interprets EKG tracings, BP and cardiac waveforms.
Completes hospital forms as needed per protocol including: Records patient charges Admission Profile Multi- disciplinary Plan of Care Other hospital and patient-related forms
Follows Dominican Hospital policy and protocol to utilize patient restraints: Provides the least restrictive environment possible Assesses continued need for restraints as directed Provides for patient safety/comfort at all times Clearly documents all interventions
Performs skills essential to the kind of nursing action to be taken, explains the health treatment to the patient and family, and teaches the patient and family how to care for the patients health needs. Instructs patient and family in self health practice.
Consistently demonstrates safe skill implementation and completes equipment/procedural change in-services. Performs technical skills at a level consistent with or higher than level achieved during initial competency check-off

$79.09 - $101.11 /hour
