Meridian Public Schools Summer Grounds Maintenance Position - Temporary in Sanford, Michigan

Meridian Public Schools is hiring a Seasonal Grounds Worker to help keep our campuses looking their best.

Facilities

HOURS/CALENDAR: Starting as soon as position needed. Position is approximately 40 hours during the summer and the position is seasonal.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma, or equivalent required. Preference given to those with Grounds experience. Need to be able to work independently, maintain and operate grounds equipment, and have a good driving record.

RATE OF PAY: Position pays $13.73 per hour and follows the LOA and the Master Agreement between Meridian Public Schools Board of Education and the Meridian-Michigan Education Support Personnel Assoc. for Temporary Summer

SUMMARY: The Grounds person performs general lawncare services under general supervision of the Director of Operations and assists in the maintenance of school grounds along with protecting buildings and equipment and other related work as required to maintain the school physical plant in a condition of operating excellence for full educational use at all times.* *

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Maintains excellent personal hygiene.
  2. Possesses and maintains an excellent attendance record.
  3. Practices safety while at work by maintaining a safe work environment.
  4. General Lawncare services such as mowing, trimming, cleaning up of branches and debris.
  5. Power washes surfaces when necessary.
  6. Basic knowledge of chemical safety, MSDS, small spill clean up.
  7. Responsible for operating and cleaning lawncare equipment.
  8. Drive service truck as required; load and unload materials and supplies.
  9. Climbs ladders and works from scaffolding.
  10. Completes lawncare and general grounds maintenance projects as assigned by the Director of Operations.
  11. Effectively communicates all operational needs to principals, staff, and the operations office.
  12. Other duties and tasks as assigned by the Director of Operations.

  6. Ability to work with computers.
  7. Utilize the work order and E-mail systems
  8. Demonstrated skill and ability to perform grounds maintenance functions.
