HOURS/CALENDAR: Starting as soon as possible (40 hours per week, 6:00a.m.-2:30p.m. with 30 minute unpaid lunch)

RATE OF PAY: Starting at $16.23-$17.10 per hour based on experience with Paid Time off, Paid Holidays, Medical Benefits, and State Retirement Plan.

Per Master Agreement between Meridian Board of Education and the Meridian-Michigan Education Support Personnel Assoc. for CGM/Maintenance.

SUMMARY: The Maintenance personnel is responsible for the safety, security, and cleanliness of the building(s) and grounds, maintaining the school physical plant in a condition of operating excellence for full educational use at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Maintains excellent personal hygiene.
  2. Possesses and maintains an excellent attendance record.
  3. Works with standard chemicals.
  4. Snow removal.
  5. Changes light bulbs and repairs light fixtures.
  6. Checks the heating plant and related equipment for proper operation.
  7. Performs plumbing and mechanical repairs and maintenance within the building and grounds such as, but not limited to, leaky faucets or pipes, door and window hardware.
  8. Continually checks, corrects, or reports dangerous equipment conditions and potential hazards.
  9. Climbs ladders and works from scaffolding.
  10. Effectively communicates all operational needs to principals, staff, and the operations office.
  11. Makes necessary arrangements for events and activities.
  12. Performs a lead role with staff to communicate, organize, and carry out work orders, utilizing the work order system.
  13. Self-motivated, ability to work independently and efficiently.
  14. Other duties and tasks as assigned by the Director of Operations.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Physical ability to perform assigned job duties.

Pass back assessment.

Ability to positively communicate with staff, students and community members.

Must possess or acquire a CDL.

Must possess or acquire a Commercial Pesticide Applicators license.

Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.

Possesses an expert working knowledge of building maintenance, mechanical functions, carpentry, roofing, electricity, refrigeration.

Ability to work with computers.
