J.H. Routh Packing Company Production Worker 2nd Shift in Sandusky, Ohio

Job Summary:

The 2nd Shift Production Worker performs tasks related to the processing, preparation, cutting, packaging, and handling of pork products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Duties vary depending on departmental assignment within Smoked Meats or Converting.

General Production Duties

  • Perform production tasks in accordance with safety, quality, and food safety standards
  • Follow company policies, GMPs, and sanitation procedures
  • Maintain required production pace
  • Safely operate tools and equipment as trained
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Work cooperatively with team members and supervisors

Smoked Meats Department (Night Smoked Meats / Bacon Line)

Bacon Processing / Machine Support

  • Load bacon paper into bacon processing machines
  • Handle bacon slabs and related materials
  • Monitor workflow and maintain line efficiency
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds

Packaging / Boxing

  • Package finished products into boxes
  • Move, stack, and palletize boxes
  • Handle boxes weighing between 60--100 pounds
  • Operate an electric pallet jack if trained/authorized

Work Conditions

  • Fast-paced production environment
  • Cold work environment

Night Converting Department

Knife / Cutting Operations

  • Perform precision trimming and cutting of pork products
  • Utilize knives, Whizard knives, saws, and skinners
  • Cut, remove, and mark portions of loin, ham, picnics, butts, and other pork products
  • Focus on proper trimming techniques to prevent over-trimming or product scoring
  • Packaging duties are not performed in this department

Work Environment
