J.H. Routh Packing Company Jack Operator 3rd Shift in Sandusky, Ohio
Job Summary:
The Jack Operator is responsible for safely operating an electric pallet jack to support shipping operations within the pork processing plant. This role ensures accurate order handling, proper trailer preparation, and safe movement of products while maintaining compliance with food safety and workplace safety standards.

Responsibilities:
- Safely operate pallet jack equipment in accordance with training and safety guidelines
- Read, interpret, and execute load sheets accurately
- Pick orders and assemble shipments based on load sheets
- Stack boxes and build pallets according to shipping specifications
- Load company trucks in proper sequence based on delivery schedules
- Communicate product needs, shortages, or discrepancies to supervisors or department leaders
- Wrap combos, pallets, and products using stretch wrapper
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Work with minimal supervision while meeting productivity and accuracy expectations
- Assist other Shipping Department functions as assigned (e.g., stack-off, scale operations, order support)
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs), and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to read and comprehend load sheets
- Ability to safely operate pallet jack equipment (certification preferred or required per company policy)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Frequent lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and reaching
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
Work Environment:
- Pork processing plant / shipping environment
- Exposure to cold temperatures and refrigerated areas
- Fast-paced, production-driven setting
- Use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Shift:
Monday to Friday 12:30am to up to 10 hours a day, possible 12 hours a day depending on production.
Saturday's when production requires it.
