Tradesmen International Welder Helper in Sandston, Virginia
Welder Helpers - Assisting welders $20/hr 2 DAY SHIFT POSITIONS 2 NIGHT SHIFT POSITIONS BG/DS required HS Diploma or Equivalent Required Key Responsibilities:
Material Preparation:
Assist in cutting grinding deburring and cleaning metal surfaces to prepare them for welding.
Load unload and transport materials to and from welding stations using appropriate equipment e.g. forklifts hoists hand trucks.
Measure mark and position materials and components for welders.
Equipment Support:
Help set up and dismantle welding equipment including machines cables and gas cylinders.
Clean and maintain welding tools and equipment e.g. grinders torches welding guns to ensure they are in good working order.
Monitor and maintain appropriate stock levels of welding consumables e.g. electrodes wire gas.
Welding Assistance:
Hold or secure parts in place during welding or tacking operations.
Perform basic grinding and brushing of welds to remove excess material or impurities.
Operate hand and power tools as directed by the welder.
Under supervision may perform basic tack welding or simple fabrication tasks.
