General Description
SUNY Niagara is seeking an innovative, and service-oriented Instructional and Collaborative Technology Support Specialist to join our Office of Information Technology. This is an exciting opportunity for a technology professional who enjoys blending technical expertise with customer service, instructional support, and innovation in a dynamic higher education environment.
In this role, you will directly support the technology that powers teaching, learning, collaboration, and engagement across campus. From classroom technology and audio-visual systems to end-user support and emerging instructional technologies, you will play a vital role in ensuring our students, faculty, and staff have the tools they need to succeed.

Position Summary
Reporting to the CIO , the Instructional and Collaborative Technology Support Specialist is a non-ranked professional part of our faculty association. This position assists in providing comprehensive technical support to the College through the Office of Information Technology ( OIT ). The successful candidate will support, maintain, and enhance the College’s instructional and collaborative technology systems while delivering exceptional service to faculty, staff, and students.

Typical Work Activities
Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs computers, and audio-visual equipment including but not limited to control systems, projectors, video switchers, cameras, microphones and other AV related hardware.
Installs and troubleshoots operating system and application software within the campus systems.
Installs wiring and network drops throughout all College facilities and sites.
Responds to technology problems identified by end users and works to correct problems either independently or with the assistance of vendors.
Creates and maintains documentation. Provides training of end users in the use of technology, as needed.
Provides technical support for on-site and remote users including phone, remote session, and in-person interaction with faculty, staff, students, and administrators for connectivity to courses, meetings, and collaboration tools and access to learning and work materials.
Performs other appropriate duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
Ability to navigate relationships with diverse populations; Must be able to operate computer equipment; must be able to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and lift and move 50 lb components; must be able to relate with faculty, staff, students, and administrators of the college from diverse backgrounds; must be able to communicate verbally and in writing; must be able to physically perform the duties of the position to include the ability to work in various locations.
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree AND
Three (3) years of paid professional work experience. This experience must include providing technology support to end users and/or audio-visual installation and troubleshooting. OR
Bachelor’s degree AND
Two (2) years paid professional work experience. This experience must include providing technology support to end users and/or audio-visual installation and troubleshooting.
Desirable Qualifications
Paid professional experience working on or with computer hardware and computer operating systems, including both Microsoft and Apple products;
Paid professional experience with technology infrastructure used or supported in an educational setting, preferably in higher education;
Paid professional experience configuring or troubleshooting: Crestron/Extron control hardware, video-conferencing systems, video projection equipment, audio mixing equipment, audio amplification equipment, HD television equipment, digital signage hardware and software, lecture capture, video streaming, and/or presentation gateways;
Paid professional experience reading wiring diagrams, equipment schematics, and/or building blueprints.
Experience with the configuration and support of Zoom client software, Zoom Rooms, Zoom dashboard, Microsoft Teams, O365 and/or Microsoft Azure.
