Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Senior Legal Assistant through May 3 , 2026, at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific) . This position will be based in San Ramon, CA.
Strategic Issues & International Litigation (SI&IL) seeks an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to provide high-level administrative support to the Chief Counsel, who will manage this position. Responsibilities include coordinating complex schedules and organizing travel arrangements both domestically and internationally.
The ideal candidate must manage confidential information with discretion, exercise sound judgment, efficiently handle demanding workloads, and coordinate complex schedules and travel. Initiative, self-motivation, accuracy, attention to detail, independent decision-making, strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, plus the ability to multitask, are essential.
The Strategic Issues & Litigation Group (SI&L) is responsible for the oversight, evaluation, and management of complex, high-stakes litigation, investigations and advice. The Senior Legal Assistant will be part of SI&L’s tightly integrated team coordinating strategic legal matters and providing comprehensive, high-quality legal advice and advocacy in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The Senior Legal Assistant is expected to be an involved, strongly productive member of the team. Professionalism and discretion in dealing with executive assistants and in-house and outside counsel are crucial. Likewise, the ability to work collaboratively with team members and external stakeholders is critical. The position requires a candidate with a commitment to continuously learning and expanding his or her skills.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to :
Effectively manage the Chief Counsel’s calendarby assessingprioritiesandinternal and externaldemands.
Coordinatemeetings with senior executives, internal teams, and external contacts, including managingcomplex,multi-party meetingsand serving as the primary administrative point of contact forinternal andexternal parties(managescheduling,logistics, agendas, attendees, pre-read materials, etc.).
Arrange both domestic and international travel, prepare detailed itineraries,supply any supportiveinformationandtrack business and travel expenses for thorough reporting.
Coordinate all aspects of meetinglogistics,includingproactively resolvingscheduling conflictsandprioritizing critical matters.
Assistwith the planning of the Chief Counsel’s calendar for the year.
Managetravelrequirements including visas, immunizations, photos, and passport renewals.
Promptly address urgent matters to ensure all deadlines are met, apply sound judgment in delegating tasks, and promote effective teamwork and collaboration within the group.
Communicate professionally with senior executives and executive assistants.
UseiManageto uploadand manage teamdocumentsand revise legal documents within tighttimeframes.
Investigate inquiries andrelieveleadersofadministrative responsibilities, acting as an information resource for SI&IL.
Draft, update, revise and trackdocuments using MSOffice Suite.
Handle privileged and confidential documents,including attorney-client communications and attorney workproduct,with strict adherence to applicable confidentiality protocolsandinformation-securityrequirements.
Assistwithinternal reporting requirements, including tracking required actionsandsubmission deadlines,following up withcontributors, and coordinating withattorneysas needed.
SupportSI&ILby preparing correspondence, presentations, and reports.
Organizelogistics, develop agendas, and gather presentation materials for meetings, conferences, and special occasions.
Establish andmaintainlegal matters within theTeamConnectmattermanagement system.
Manage electronic billings, invoices, and payments within and outside of theTeamConnectmatter management system and set up vendors.
Act as an information resourcearoundcomputer systems,supportsoftwareand hardware technical support.
Support the Chief Counsel's performance management processes(PMP), including scheduling and coordinating PMP sessions with direct reports,compilingand tracking feedback materials, and managing the annual review calendar.
Assistwith other duties and special projects, as assigned bythe ChiefCounsel and other team membersas needed.
Assistand providebackup coverage to other legal assistants.
Required Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or equivalent
5+ years of legal administrative experience supporting attorneysor senior leaders
Strong ability tomaintainthe utmost confidentiality and adaptability to changing demands
Demonstrated experience managing active calendars and complex travel
Proven ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and exercise good judgment
Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) at all levels of the organization
ProficiencyinMicrosoft OfficeSuite
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability toactpromptlyundertight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
Experience providing direct executive-level support in a complex, high-stakes legal environment, including coordination withsenior executives’ assistantsandseniorin-house andoutside counsel
Experience coordinating meetings and travel across multiplenational andinternational time zones
Proven ability tosupportmultipleworkstreams, collaborate with outside and internal teams, set andmaintaincalendars, schedules and agendas, and keep communications clear andtimely
Experience with e-billing, matter management systems,setting up vendors in payment systems,andcorporate expense reporting
Experiencewithadministrative work related tointernal budgeting and finance processes

Knowledge of the litigation processand technology
ProficiencyinSharePoint,iManage,TeamConnect, and SAP Concur/CTREX
Familiarity withAItools,including MS Copilot

Theanticipatedsalary range for this position is $ 80,100 – $ 120,100 . The selected candidate’s compensation will bedeterminedbased on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
