BeOne Medicines Senior Director or Executive Director, Forecasting and Performance in San Mateo, California
General Description:
The Sr. Director/Executive Director, Forecasting and Performance Center of Excellence (COE) will lead BeOne’s global forecasting and commercial performance management capabilities to enable high-quality decision-making across the commercial organization. This leader will establish standards, governance, and best practices for demand forecasting for both inline and late stage products, revenue outlook, KPI design, performance measurement, and insights delivery across regions, brands, and channels. The role partners closely with Marketing, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, Market Access, Sales Operations, and country/region leadership to drive planning excellence, ensure forecast accuracy and transparency. In addition, this leader will manage and develop a high performing team and accelerate adoption of scalable tools and processes. This role reports to the VP of Global Commercial Insights and Business Analytics.
The Key Responsibilities include:
Forecasting & Performance COE Leadership:
Set the global vision, operating model, and multi-year roadmap for the Forecasting & Performance COE, aligned to corporate and commercial priorities.
Build and lead a high-performing team covering global forecasting, performance management, and enablement, with clear roles, development plans, and succession.
Establish COE governance, standards, and ways of working (cadence, templates, review forums, documentation) to drive consistency, transparency, and accountability.
Forecasting Excellence:
Oversee end-to-end forecasting process across products (baseline, events, scenario planning), including assumptions, risks/opportunities, and version control for North America and Europe, while collaborating with other geographies for best practice sharing and collaboration
Define forecasting methodologies and accuracy targets; implement drivers-based models and statistically informed approaches where appropriate.
Partner with Finance and Supply Chain to align demand, revenue outlook, and supply planning; deliver clear narratives and decision-ready materials for leadership reviews.
Lead global demand performance reporting standards and consolidation to summarize market dynamics and forecast adjustments to inform strategic decision-making
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Serve as a strategic partner to Global/Regional Brand Teams, Finance, Market Access, Sales Operations, and country/region leadership to drive aligned plans, assumptions, and performance priorities.
Lead cross-functional forums (e.g., monthly forecast reviews, quarterly business reviews) to surface risks, drive decisions, and track follow-through on actions.
Partner collaboratively with Pipeline & Business Development Valuation, Market Access, Integrated Insights, Advanced Analytics, Competitive Intelligence and cross-functional partners to anticipate market trends, understand competitive threats and build robust forecasts that reflect deep understanding of commercial opportunity.
Tools, Data & Enablement:
Drive adoption and continuous improvement of forecasting and performance tools (planning platforms, BI dashboards, AI innovation) and define COE requirements for data quality, data pipelines, and master data.
Develop training, playbooks, and self-service standards to scale forecasting and performance best practices across regions and brands.
Executive Communication & Stakeholder Management:
Provide clear, concise executive readouts that translate forecast and performance drivers into implications, options, and decisions.
Manage key stakeholder relationships and vendor/partner engagements related to forecasting, performance analytics, and planning enablement.
Team Development and Organizational Impact:
Recruit, mentor, and retain top talent across forecasting, performance measurement, and planning enablement; foster a high-performance, customer-centric COE culture.
Define and track KPI frameworks for commercial performance (leading/lagging indicators), forecast accuracy/bias, and COE service levels; drive continuous improvement based on results.
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s/MBA/PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Finance, Economics, Engineering) preferred.
Required Experience:
For an Executive Director we require a BA/BS with 14 + years of experience, a MA/MS/MBA with 10 + years of experience or a PhD/PharmD, PhD with 8 + years of experience in commercial forecasting and/or performance analytics within biotech/pharma; oncology experience strongly preferred.
For a Senior Director we require a BA/BS with 12 + years of experience, a MA/MS/MBA with 8 + years of experience or a PhD/PharmD, PhD with 6 + years of experience in commercial forecasting and/or performance analytics within biotech/pharma; oncology experience strongly preferred.
For both levels, we require:
4+ years of people leadership experience, including building and scaling COE-style teams and influencing senior stakeholders in a matrixed environment.
Strong command of forecasting methods (drivers-based, statistical), performance measurement, and planning systems; advanced proficiency with Excel and common BI/planning tools.
Demonstrated success partnering across Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, Market Access, and field leadership to drive decisions and improve performance.
Experience implementing process automation and scalable reporting to improve forecast quality, cycle time, and business adoption.
All years of work experience may be gained concurrently.
Additional skills:
Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical data (e.g. Claims, specialty pharmacy, specialty distributor, payer, longitudinal patient-level data)
Advanced analytical modeling and experience with pharma market research
Strong blend of technical proficiency, business acumen, and experience informing business growth and opportunity
Collaborative and influential leadership style, with the ability to build strong partnerships across the organization
