Position Description
The College of Health ProfessionsSchool of Health Administration (https://www.health.txst.edu/ha.html) ( SOHA )Texas State University ( TXST ), invites applications for one open rank tenure-track position. This is a full-time, in-person position located at the San Marcos campus, with a nine-month appointment to begin Fall 2026. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
Candidates are expected to actively pursue and maintain an externally funded research program. This position is subject to the availability of funds.
Required Qualifications
Required qualifications for all ranks:
An earned doctorate and masters.
One degree must be in healthcare administration or closely related field.
One degree must be from CAHME , AACSB or CePH accredited program.
Required qualifications for rank of Assistant Professor , in addition to those required above:
Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills.
Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning consistent with the program vision, mission, and goals.
Established publication history.
Established research agenda .
Required qualifications for rank of Associate Professor, in addition to those required above:
Minimum five years teaching experience.
Established research publication history.
Established external funding record.
Demonstrated teaching excellence and service leadership accomplishments.
Required qualifications for rank of Professor, in addition to those required above:
Minimum 10 years teaching experience.
Requires an extensive research publication history.
Established external funding record.
Demonstrated and sustained teaching excellence.
Demonstrated major service leadership accomplishments both in an academic setting as well as the profession.
Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and school established standards.
Preferred qualifications for all ranks:
Board certification or board certification eligible and plan to seek certification in the American College of Healthcare Executives ( ACHE ), Healthcare Financial Management Association ( HFMA ), American College of Health Care Administrators ( ACHCA ), American College of Medical Practice Executives ( ACMPE ), American Health Information Management Association ( AHIMA ), or other appropriate professional organization related to the field of healthcare administration.
Industry experience in the healthcare domain (ideally in a series of positions of increasing responsibility).
As this is an in-person position, the candidate must have a willingness to teach on campus, synchronous classes.
Previous record of funded external grant activity and peer-reviewed publications.
