  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., human resources, business, communication, higher education administration) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2 years of experience coordinating projects or events in human resources, higher education, or a related professional setting.

  • Demonstrated experience organizing complex logistics, tracking multiple concurrent priorities, and meeting deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing professional correspondence and basic reports.

  • Proficiency with office productivity and collaboration tools (e.g., Microsoft 365, Teams, shared drives) and comfort learning HR- and event-related systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of related experience preferred.

  • Experience supporting HR processes or internal HR projects (e.g., onboarding, recognition, LMS or HRIS initiatives, process implementations).

  • Experience coordinating university-wide or large-scale events for employees or students.

  • Familiarity with tools such as a learning management system, survey platform, or email marketing/ CRM .

  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams or campus committees.

  • Familiarity with basic change management concepts or approaches within a professional or higher education setting.

Job Description

The HR Project Coordinator serves as a key coordination partner to the Talent Development & Communications Manager and the broader Human Resources department, coordinating internal HR projects and university-wide employee engagement initiatives for Texas State employees. The role leads planning and logistics for cross-functional HR efforts that span HR processes and programs, while supporting HR leadership on strategy, content, and budget decisions. By connecting projects, people, and information across HR, this position helps ensure that initiatives are well organized, well communicated, and aligned with HR priorities.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate HR-wide projects, including initiatives related to HR systems, onboarding, recognition, and internal employee programs.

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners, HR Colleagues, and additional stakeholders on projects and initiatives that enhance employee engagement at the University such as employee engagement survey coordination/planning, action planning facilitation, change management initiatives, and culture building efforts.

  • Prepare and maintain project plans, track timelines and deliverables, monitor risks, and provide regular status updates and reports to HR leadership and stakeholders.

  • Coordinate vendor-related HR and Talent Strategy projects (e.g., pitches, replacements, implementations), ensuring requirements are documented and tasks are organized across units.

  • Lead planning and execution of university-wide employee engagement events and programs for Texas State employees (e.g., National Employee Appreciation Day, Bring a Kid to TXST Day), in collaboration with HR and campus partners.

  • Lead event logistics for large-scale, employee-facing events, including campus partner and vendor coordination, communications support, and post-event feedback and metrics.

  • Provide semesterly reporting on engagement programming, summarizing participation, feedback, and recommendations to inform HR’s employee experience and Employer of Choice efforts.

  • Represent HR on campus committees and work groups (e.g., event resource groups, professional development, staff governance, marketing/communications) and build partnerships that advance HR initiatives.
