Ability to communicate and understand verbal and written instructions.
Basic facility maintenance skills or experience with electrical, plumbing, and carpentry issues.

Two years of experience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC , or building maintenance and repair environments.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and in a team environment.
Previous experience using an electronic work order management system.
Work experience in apartment make-readies, student housing, or hotel maintenance.
Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Worker II provides maintenance and repair work for various tasks in one or more craft areas in the operation of the residence halls. Perform maintenance and repair tasks independently and/or assist journey-level craft workers. Assist in providing a comfortable living environment for students in residence halls. This position involves participating as a Department of Housing and Residential Life Facilities Maintenance team member, providing quality customer service to students, staff, and guests.
Job Duties
Assess, update and promptly complete work orders assigned by the supervisor or crew leader.
Demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills with residents, guests, and team members.
Perform basic electric repairs such as checking and maintaining electrical systems. Change out lamps and ceiling fan switches. Provide support to electricians as needed.
Perform basic plumbing repairs, maintenance of sewer systems, and make readies. Assist in replacing and servicing kitchen sinks, bathtubs, lavatories, and toilets. Providing support to plumbers as needed.
Perform basic carpentry in installations and assist with make-readies, doors, cabinets, windows, floors, drywall, framing, and roof repairs.
Provide support to other trades with preventative maintenance, changing out air filters, assisting in the repair of shop equipment (dollies, drain machines, etc.), and departmental inventory management.
Complete administrative duties on time, such as mileage reports, work order updates, and time entry. Follow up via email with the supervisor, residence hall director, or student as needed regarding a specific issue.
Serve as on-call and essential personnel, which requires occasional irregular work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency closures, to meet the department’s and the university’s needs.
Perform all physical aspects of assigned duties, including stooping, reaching, climbing, and lifting to 50 pounds.
Be able to access all parts of a residential building across campus promptly.
