Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
One or more years of experience working with basic needs services.
One or more years of experience working with students, faculty, and staff.
Work with community resources and partnerships.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
Earned Master’s degree in related field including Adult Education, Educational Leadership, Student Affairs, etc. from an accredited institution.
One or more years of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating basic needs resources for students in crisis.
Two or more years of direct experience working with students, faculty, and staff.
Demonstrated experience working on large scale programs or projects.
Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory, assessment, and practices to foster student success.
Technical experience in case management systems (e.g. Maxient), assessment tools (e.g. Qualtrics, PowerBI) and MS Office suite.
Ability to work collaboratively with others.
Job Description
Reporting to the Assistant Director for CARE in the Dean of Students Office at Texas State University, this full-time Coordinator, Basic Needs position works individually with students to secure resources to meet basic needs so they can focus on their academic success. The Coordinator functions as a part of the CARE Team and maintains a productive and collaborative learning environment throughout the Dean of Students Office.
Job Duties
Coordinate and manage student basic needs programs, including food resources, housing assistance, and emergency aid programs.
Provide individualized support to students by assessing needs and connecting them to appropriate campus and community resources.
Advise and support non-traditional student organizations, provide guidance for former foster youth and Veterans programs, and facilitate administrative processes for pregnant and parenting student support services.
Provide expertise related to the impact on student success through addressing student basic needs.
Support departmental assessment and reporting work for Basic Needs Hub, within the CARE Team, as needed.
Represent the Dean of Students Office at meetings and programs within the Division of Student Success ( DSS ) and the University.
Function as a member of the CARE Team and Dean of Students Office professional staff team.
Present at local, regional, and national meetings and conferences as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
