Position Description

TheDepartment of Engineering Technology (https://www.txst.edu/technology.html) at Texas State University is seeking applicants to fill two (2) tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in our growing Construction Science and Management and Concrete Industry Management programs, beginning in Fall 2026. The undergraduate programs are accredited by the American Council for Construction Education ( ACCE ) and the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering ( ATMAE ) respectively and currently serve almost 1,000 students. The department also operates MS and PhD programs in construction management with in-person and online options.

The selected candidate will be expected to excel in teaching and have excellent oral and written English communication skills. The individual selected for this position will be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, as departmental needs require.

The selected candidate is also expected to conduct research and to secure external funding, establish an independent research program and publish in areas appropriate for both construction management and concrete industry management, and for an emerging research institution. The candidate will also be expected to engage both undergraduate and graduate students in their research activities and to supervise graduate students.

In addition, the selected candidate will participate in appropriate service activities at the program, department, university and professional levels.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctoral degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.

  • An undergraduate degree in Construction Management from an ACCE or ABET accredited institution, or in Construction Engineering or Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution, or a closely related field from a similarly accredited institution.

  • Excellent oral and written English language skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Publication record in academic journals and proceedings.

  • The potential for a viable externally funded research program.

  • Three or more years of full-time work experience in a construction management or construction engineering discipline.

  • Research expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Artificial intelligence in construction management, concrete materials science, or concrete production

  • Virtual design and construction, extended reality, digital twins, digital construction

  • Predictive analytics for schedule/cost/risk in construction

  • 3D printed concrete structures

  • Modular and offsite construction

  • Resilient and insurable construction systems

  • Ability to teach in one or more of the following content areas:

  • Construction technology

  • Construction materials, means and methods

  • Construction equipment and methods

  • Construction contracts, risk and ethics

  • Fundamentals of concrete construction, means and methods

  • Precast/Prestressed concrete products and management

  • Sustainability in concrete

  • Concrete problems, diagnosis, and prevention

  • Earned construction industry certifications (i.e. Certified Professional Constructor ( CPC ), Project Management Professional ( PMP ), Certified Construction Manager ( CCM ), LEED -AP, DBIA Design-Build Professional, or related).
