Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
Strong knowledge of financial practices, reporting, budget development, and monitoring/auditing transactions
Ability to interpret and apply financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
Proficiency with financial and administrative systems ( ERP , IWMS , Utility Billing, and purchasing), advanced Microsoft Excel skills and the Microsoft Suite
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare written reports, budget narratives, and business cases and to present information to internal and external stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Three or more years of government accounting experience
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field
Experience analyzing financial and operational data, forecasting, and recommending cost-effective solutions
Experience with Utility billing and use of an energy management software
Experience with SAP ( ERP ) system, including ability to navigate key financial reporting tools
Proficiency with AiM ( IWMS ) or similar, including creating work orders, managing cost data, and adhering to account assignment protocol
Job Description
The Business Manager is responsible for directing and administering facilities-related business operations to ensure effective financial management and operational efficiency. This role oversees interdepartmental financial transactions between Facilities departments and campus units, ensuring accuracy and compliance with institutional policies. Processes utility and miscellaneous bill payments. The position performs detailed analysis and audits of accounts and expenditures to maintain fiscal integrity. Additionally, the Business Manager provides financial reports to department leadership and the Associate Vice President of Facilities and recommends corrective actions to support informed decision-making.
Job Duties
Monitor, investigate, and resolve complex billing issues with internal and external customers
Assist in the development of financial reports and perform account spending analysis for all Facilities departments
Develop and maintain reimbursable shop rates for all Facilities shops
Review interdepartmental transfer ( IDT ) errors and rejects; research root causes and implement corrective actions
Load utility data into Utility billing software to generate payment files for upload into SAP for payment to utility providers
Audit Facilities departments’ accounts and expenditures for accuracy, compliance, and proper allocation
Process budget transfers for Facilities departments to support operational needs
Process and deposit checks and cash received for Facilities
Collaborate with the University Budget Office to resolve funding issues and reallocate funds among Facilities operational accounts to meet evolving University needs.
All other duties as assigned.
