Position Description
TheDepartment of Chemistry & Biochemistry (https://www.txst.edu/chemistry.html) seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Instruction, with primary teaching duties in general chemistry, coordination of chemistry laboratories, and curriculum development. Depending on area of expertise, additional teaching opportunities are possible. This position begins in Fall 2026, with full consideration given to candidates who apply before March 13, 2026. The Assistant Professor of Instruction is a non-tenured faculty position that is promotion eligible. Annual reappointment is contingent on satisfactory annual performance evaluations and continued departmental/university teaching needs.
Successful candidates will teach at the Texas State University campus in San Marcos, Texas.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of a master’s degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
Strong academic background in one or more of the following areas: general chemistry, biochemistry, and organic chemistry.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
Preferred Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry or a closely related field.
Previous experience teaching undergraduate courses as the instructor of record.
Ability to instruct large enrollment sections (100+).
Previous experience coordinating and developing curriculum for undergraduate laboratories.
