Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or a related field.
Experience with academic support programs that include academic advising, and the college exploration/application process.
Effective writing and speaking skills.
Experience with computer software (Microsoft suite) and database management platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
1 year experience with academic advising, college, and career preparation, and the college exploration/application process.
Experience developing programs, events, trips, and workshops for students.
Experience working with summer programs for students.
Bilingual (Spanish) speaking/writing.
Job Description
This is a grant funded position. Continuation of this position is contingent upon grant funding.
Reports to the Director of Upward Bound San Marcos program. The Upward Bound Grant Specialist assists with the academic achievement and pursuit of post- secondary education enrollment for program participants.
Position located at three target schools (San Marcos, Kyle, Seguin) and at the Texas State Campus in San Marcos.
Evening and weekend work required.
Job Duties
Assist with program recruitment.
Assist with completing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) needs assessments and LASSI’s annually for new and continuing participants.
Assist with monitoring student grades and tracking academic progress.
Assist with after school tutoring, Saturday Sessions, and Summer Program.
Provide college admission and financial aid process information. Support recently graduated seniors as they transition to postsecondary education.
Assist with the documentation of services provided, tracking, and reporting.
Assist with pre and post evaluations for participants and parents/guardians.
Monitor outcome objectives, collect data, and assist in preparing annual performance reports/other reports as assigned.
Develop and maintain professional outreach networks within target area communities and schools, serving as a liaison and point of contact as needed.
Participate in professional development opportunities to promote personal and professional growth.
Conduct other duties as assigned.
