ROLE SUMMARY: The Tasting Room Supervisor is a hands-on leader responsible for supporting the daily execution of a world-class guest experience. This role leads the hourly Front of House team on the floor, providing real-time coaching, feedback, and direction while actively participating in service. They oversee shift operations for 220+ seat restaurant, kitchen, bar, retail shop, and tours. The Tasting Room Supervisor leads by example, upholds hospitality and service standards, and reinforces a positive, accountable team culture. They play a key role in labor management, shift execution, and training support, while maintaining close alignment with the Tasting Room leadership team.

This leader ensures that the guest experience, team execution, and operational controls are aligned, scalable, and sustainable. They are accountable for translating strategy into execution through structure, clarity, and follow-through. This position works autonomously under the general loose direction of the Tasting Room & Kitchen General Manager. This leadership position is vital for the Tasting Room & Kitchen to operate at the desired level. This position works autonomously under the general direction of the Tasting Room Manager - Hospitality.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Leadership & Service Oversight

  • Provide active leadership on the floor to ensure seamless service execution and a consistently elevated guest experience.

  • Oversee daily front-of-house operations across the tasting room, bar, restaurant, retail shop, and tour areas.

  • Maintain a visible leadership presence during service while focusing on oversight, direction, and problem-solving rather than primary service execution.

  • Monitor guest flow, pacing, and service standards to ensure operational efficiency and hospitality excellence.

  • Address and resolve guest concerns, ensuring timely and thoughtful service recovery when needed.

  • Ensure all service areas maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and readiness throughout service.

  • Coordinate with bar, kitchen, host, retail, and tour teams to maintain alignment across departments.

Team Leadership, Development & Accountability

  • Lead and develop the Front of House team through coaching, accountability, and clear communication.

  • Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to hourly team members.

  • Reinforce hospitality standards, steps of service, appearance expectations, and workplace professionalism.

  • Support onboarding and training of new team members while reinforcing standard operating procedures.

  • Lead performance conversations and disciplinary discussions in accordance with company policies and HR guidelines.

  • Monitor team performance during shifts and provide corrective direction when needed.

  • Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable team environment aligned with company values.

Labor Oversight & Shift Management

  • Support efficient staffing and labor management to balance service quality with business needs.

  • Develop and manage weekly schedules for tour guides based on business needs, volume trends, and labor targets.

  • Lead, coach, recognize, and mentor FOH team members, setting clear expectations and modeling strong leadership behaviors.

  • Hold the FOH team accountable to established service standards and hospitality excellence

  • Oversee shift staffing and floor coverage to ensure appropriate team support during service.

  • Coordinate team breaks, floor cuts, and coverage adjustments based on guest volume and operational needs.

  • Monitor service pacing and staffing levels to maintain labor efficiency.

  • Assist leadership with feedback related to scheduling needs and staffing opportunities.

Operational Standards & Compliance

  • Ensure consistent execution of operational procedures and regulatory requirements.

  • Enforce Front of House SOPs and operational procedures.

  • Ensure compliance with alcohol service regulations, food safety standards, and workplace policies.

  • Monitor adherence to timekeeping, break compliance, and labor policies.

  • Identify operational opportunities or inconsistencies and communicate improvement recommendations to leadership.

  • Support consistent opening and closing procedures to ensure operational continuity between shifts.

Leadership Communication & Alignment

  • Serve as an effective communication link between hourly team members and the leadership team.

  • Provide leadership with regular feedback regarding team performance, operational challenges, and service observations.

  • Support the creation and implementation of leadership initiatives, training programs, and operational improvements.

  • Reinforce company goals, expectations, and service standards across the team.

Manager on Duty (MOD) Responsibilities

  • When scheduled as MOD, assume full operational oversight of the Tasting Room & Kitchen.

  • Direct shift operations and ensure smooth execution across all service areas.

  • Support labor decisions, guest experience management, and team performance.

  • Oversee cash handling procedures and closing checkouts when required.

  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations and escalate according to established protocols.

Brand Representation & Culture

  • Represent the Cutwater Spirits brand through professionalism, leadership, and exceptional hospitality.

  • Uphold and model company values and workplace culture.

  • Demonstrate professionalism and leadership in all guest and team interactions.

  • Support a collaborative and service-focused environment across all departments.

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Tasting Room & Kitchen.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • College Degreepreferred.

  • Significant restaurant experience – 3 years minimum, depending on quality of experience.

  • 1+ yearssupervisory/leadershipexperience (preferred).

  • 1+ years prior experience in catering or event planning (preferred).
