Saint-Gobain Maintenance Technician in SAN DIEGO, California

Repair and maintain select machinery and mechanical equipment, pre-determined by department supervisor, using hand tools, power tools, and precision- measuring and testing instruments in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.

Shift: 2nd, Monday-Friday 2:30pm-11:00pm

Essential Responsibilities of the Position (includes the following; other responsibilities may be assigned):

  • Maintain, troubleshoot & repair a variety of electric/mechanical equipment.

  • Lay out/fabricate parts, tools, brackets, etc. for production areas.

  • Install & modify new and existing equipment.

  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills of equipment are essential.

  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.

  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, and straightedges.

  • Repair and replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools.

  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools.

  • Start and/or test run devices to test their performance.

  • Ability to use or be trainable on shop equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, welders, etc.

Essential Requirements for the Position:

  • Knowledge of the proper use of hand tools, power tools, table saws, band saws, and air tools.

  • Mechanical and electrical understanding of industrial/production equipment.

  • Welding and machining skills preferred.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-year experience repairing and servicing a variety of machinery.

  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

  • Any type of thin film processing or converting industry background is a plus.

Non-Essential Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Lubricate and clean parts.

  • May initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the local pay range for this position, which is $22.00 to $32.00 per hour, plus a 2nd shift differential of $1.00/hr. This hourly pay rate offered can vary depending on location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for periodic bonus payments/an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 10% of the hourly rate based on company and individual performance measures. The total annual target cash range (Hourly Pay Rate plus Bonus, annualized (40 hrs/week * 52wks)) for this position is $50,336 to $73,216. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and, by nature, can vary based on company and individual performance and are not a guarantee.
