Girl Scouts San Diego Director of Human Resources in San Diego, California
Girl Scouts San Diego is seeking a strategic yet hands-on Director of Human Resources. You’ll lead and shape long-term people and culture initiatives including recruitment, employee relations, performance management and day-to-day HR operations, and serve as a trusted advisor and member of the senior leadership team.
What You'll Do
As Director of Human Resources, you will:
Partner with senior leadership to develop and implement people strategies that support a high-performing, values-driven culture.
Lead and manage day-to-day HR operations across recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance.
Design and implement HR programs, policies and procedures aligned with organizational goals.
Drive talent strategies including workforce planning, recruitment, and retention.
Coach and advise managers at all levels to strengthen leadership capability and ensure equitable people practices.
Lead learning and development initiatives to build staff and leadership capacity.
Develop and implement employee engagement and retention strategies.
Oversee employee relations, providing expert guidance and ensuring fair, timely, and consistent resolution of workplace issues.
Lead performance management processes that promote accountability, feedback, and professional growth.
Oversee compensation, benefits, and HR systems to ensure competitiveness, equity, and operational efficiency.
Ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Manage the HR budget and resources with a focus on impact and efficiency.
Lead and empower the HR team through effective management and professional development.
B achelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field (Master’s preferred)
SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred
10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience (nonprofit experience preferred)
Demonstrated success developing and executing HR strategies aligned with organizational priorities
Strong expertise in employee relations, talent management, and organizational development
Ability to build trust and partner effectively with leaders and staff at all levels.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and consultative skills
High level of discretion and sound judgment with confidential matters
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with HRIS and ATS preferred
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
Commitment to the mission and values of Girl Scouting, including adherence to the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
Hiring Salary Range: $115,000 - $130,000
