MTC Supervisor, Facility Maintenance in San Bernardino, California

Wage - $71,000 - $76,000 annually / based on experience

What you will be doing: You’ll report to the director, finance and administration. Directly supervises the maintenance technicians, maintenance workers, custodian/groundskeepers and student intern/WBL. Responsible for the supervision of the maintenance department in compliance with government and management directives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plan, coordinate and supervise the administrative and maintenance services of the department.

  2. Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance, recommend and implement department and personnel changes as approved by the director, finance & administration and coordinated with the manager, human resources prior to implementation.

  3. Assist the manager, support services in the development of departmental budget; monitor and control expenditures.

  4. Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures affecting maintenance.

  5. Conduct regular inspection of buildings, grounds and equipment to ensure proper repair, facility improvement and preventive maintenance in compliance with program requirements and safety/building codes.

  6. Maintain buildings, grounds and equipment; maintain an effective work order and prevent maintenance systems; manage custodians.

  7. Supervise and evaluate students on center work support and work-based learning assigned to the department.

  8. Coordinate with other center staff to determine maintenance needs.

  9. Prepare and maintain appropriate management records such as equipment inventory, building systems descriptions and preventive maintenance checks.

  10. Assist the manager, support services in the development of the facility utilization, maintenance and energy conservation plans.

  11. Coordinate with career training department to develop career technical skills training (CTST) plan and activities.

  12. Oversee facility construction and rehabilitation projects as assigned.

  13. Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.

  14. Participate in student employability programs and activities.

  15. Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.

  16. Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.

  17. Maintain accountability of staff, students and property; adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Five years (minimum) of facility maintenance work experience including HVAC systems. Technical, vocational or OJT in HVAC, electrical, mechanical and plumbing.

  • Maintenance certification preferred, such as Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) through International Maintenance Institute or Certified Facility Manager (CFM) through International Facility Management Association.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required.
