SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Specialist I, Summer Bridge Peer Mentor, (PT)(Temporary) in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

As a peer mentor with the Summer Bridge program, you'll play a vital role in creating a welcoming environment for new Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) students. You'll work closely with the Summer Bridge team and other Office of Student Success (OSS) staff members to introduce incoming students to the resources available at SLCC and help them get acquainted with the college's unique culture and learning environment. 

Note: This is a temporary position with a start date of May 18, 2026, and end date of August 14, 2026. You must commit to working the entire dates of the program with an average of 20 -- 25 hours a week. Limited opportunities for continued employment past the employment dates may be available.

Participate as a team member of OSS by assisting with duties and tasks, including: - Attend all peer mentor required training and additional SLCC online employee required training - Inform new students in large and small groups about the various resources offered at Salt Lake Community College - Assist in event planning and execution - Assist Summer Bridge students with the program's curriculum and activities - Problem-solve common challenges new students face in their transition to SLCC - Coach first-year students on time management, financial literacy, campus employment opportunities, and success skills - Maintain a civil and respectful environment for students, faculty, and staff - Attend your assigned class courses and create supplemental instruction materials for English 1010 or English 2010 courses - Plan and conduct supplemental instruction sessions twice a week - Communicate effectively -- both orally and in writing - Demonstrate thorough customer service skills - Present in front of large audiences as well as provide one-on-one consultations - Work collaboratively with other office staff, a variety of campus departments and community personnel - Organize, process, and apply large amounts of information with accuracy - Learn the requirements of SLCC departments, majors, schools, programs and degree options, and College resources and procedures (application, registration, catalog, schedule) - Work well under pressure and function independently with integrity under minimal supervision - Utilize basic computer operating systems (Microsoft Office Word, Publisher, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) - Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
