Job Description
The Senior Systems Engineer - OnBase is responsible for the architecture, administration, and continuous improvement of WGU's Hyland OnBase Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform. This role ensures system reliability, scalability, workflow automation, and strong alignment with university business processes that support student and staff experiences. The engineer partners closely with technical teams and university stakeholders to design, implement, and support mission-critical ECM solutions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
OnBase Platform Administration
Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade OnBase environments (Development, UAT, Production).
Manage system performance, security, integrations, and high-availability operations.
Oversee application deployments, environment refreshes, patching, and configuration governance.
Maintain documentation - including system diagrams, operational procedures, and DR runbooks.
Workflow, Forms, and Automation
Design, configure, and maintain OnBase Workflows, WorkView applications, Unity Forms, and document processing solutions.
Translate business requirements into scalable ECM designs and process automations.
Identify opportunities for system optimization, automation, and enhanced user experience.
Support and Troubleshooting
Serve as the Tier-3 technical expert for advanced OnBase issues and root-cause analysis.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and Hyland support to resolve system defects and integration issues.
Support end-user adoption through knowledge sharing, documentation, and training.
Collaboration and Leadership
Partner with business stakeholders, analysts, PMO, and IT teams to design and deliver high-quality ECM solutions.
Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and best-practice leadership to junior engineers and peers.
Influence architectural decisions, standards, and ECM governance across the department.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field; or equivalent experience.
5+ years of systems engineering or system administration experience.
