Hoyt Archery Production Manager in Salt Lake City, Utah

Our facility in Salt Lake is looking for a Production Manager for our Paint department. Key responsibilities for this role include:
Provides leadership and management for department staff:
Provides coaching and mentoring to department members.
Conducts meaningful performance appraisals for all subordinates to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for future development.
Sets measurable objectives for subordinates that align with the department and company strategy.
Provides all relevant functional and technical training to employees.
Ensures that activities are cost-effective and perform to budget.
Responsible for overall production management:
Develops training programs and oversees training matrix for assigned department
Works with managers of other departments and manufacturing operations manager to determine required staffing and daily employee and resource balance and distribution
Provides on time reviews and coaching sessions as required
Review and approve department timesheets, review discrepancies with supervisors
Oversee timely and fair application of vacation policy by supervisors
Oversee coordination by supervisors of employee schedules, including vacation requests and sick leave, to maintain production needs
Ensures all health & safety practices and policies are followed
Ensures compliancy to hazardous waste/other policies and procedures
Manages schedule performance and downtime, costs, scrap, quality
Oversees operator preventative maintenance
Oversees that approved and established production processes are accurately followed through standard work.
Oversee all equipment calibration requirements are met.
Actively removes old equipment and fixturing as product phases out
Coordinates production processes and activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
Looks forward at future schedule to understand capacity and makes plans to manage
Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
Monitors product standards and develops quality control program and operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
Monitors the production processes and equipment, adjusts, or revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems, and ensures goods and services are produced efficiently and with the correct quantities, quality, and cost.
Works with support departments to research/develop better and more robust process that are easily managed by production floor
Helps develop and supports the company’s strategy:
As a member of the Production Team, contributes to the development and implementation of the company’s strategic operating plan.
Establishes strategies in the areas of manufacturing. Appropriately aligns department efforts to ensure strategic plan success and improvement in overall business performance.
Supports the cross-functional needs of the company in all functions and departments.
Supports organizational initiatives:
Is responsible for proactively establishing and/or reinforcing procedures and improvement efforts related to quality, customer satisfaction, employee morale, cost containment and performance to budget.
Maintains open lines of communication and shares relevant information with all levels of the organization.
Ensures that all communication and reporting generated by the department is appropriate and accurate
Education and Experience
BA/BS degree in Business, Management, or similar discipline preferred
Previous management experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Advanced computer skills, with working knowledge of spreadsheets.
Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principals and their application to specific department
Knowledge of composites manufacturing and machining is a plus.
Strong leadership and organization skills
High-level of problem solving and decision-making abilities
Knowledge of root-cause analysis strategies and methods
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; as well as strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work with employees at all levels across the organization
