Position Summary
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, optimize, and sustain production processes. This role is responsible for improving efficiency, reducing cost, ensuring product quality, and supporting both existing manufacturing lines and new program initiatives. Strong analytical skills, hands on problem solving, design engineering, and the ability to work effectively across teams are essential.
This role is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Relocation assistance is available. Candidate must be willing to relocate.
Primary Responsibilities
Troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues by identifying root causes and implementing robust corrective actions.
Develop expertise in fiber reinforced polymer composites and related manufacturing processes.
Design, refine, and document processes to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost.
Analyze takt time, create process flows, and contribute to efficient work cell design.
Write and maintain clear, compliant work instructions and process documentation.
Support production teams in addressing tooling, equipment, and facility challenges.
Assist with the design, qualification, and deployment of new or modified tooling and equipment.
Apply knowledge of metallic and non-metallic tooling for composite fabrication. •
Define/maintain CNC machining and composites assembly processes.
Develop SOW and RFQ documents for third party vendor solicitations for services.
Use FMEA and other risk management tools.
Ensure compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, and other industry standards.
Promote safe work practices in alignment with regulatory and company requirements.
Engineering & Software Skills
Plan and execute engineering tasks within established cost and schedule targets.
Use CAD tools (SolidWorks and/or CATIA) to create and review models and drawings.
Apply ASME Y14.5 GD&T principles in product and tooling design.
Ability to read and interpret material and equipment specifications/drawings.
Design fixtures, tooling, mechanisms, and supporting hardware for composite manufacturing.
Design, selection, and validation of manufacturing equipment.
Prepare and maintain engineering drawings, flow diagrams, and technical reports.
Use Microsoft Office effectively; advanced Excel skills are preferred.
Experience with filament winding, composite braiding, resin transfer molding, and resin infusion a plus
Experience with composite rocket motor cases and nozzles is a plus.
Experience with Automation, PLCs, and equipment control systems is a plus.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Materials, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
3–10 years of relevant manufacturing, process, or production engineering experience.
Strong background with Lean/Six Sigma experience.
Strong project management skills.
Dependable and able to perform effectively in a dynamic environment.
