Job Summary

Laboratory Technicians

The Pellitier lab is seeking an outstanding candidate to assist in both the field and laboratory operations. The applicant will generate high-throughput fungal amplicon datasets from existing and new samples collected in the field. Additional tasks will include setting up and maintaining a large experimental greenhouse trial using Pine seedlings, and the maintenance of a fungal culture collection. Applicant will be expected to develop proficiency with bioinformatic and statistical methods in R. Additional tasks include organizing and ordering lab equipment and development of molecular and other protocols for the laboratory. Applicant is expected to contribute to lab meetings, and the mentorship of undergraduates engaged in the SRI program. There are opportunities for publication and career development. A background in community, biogeochemistry and plant or fungal biology is required.

Laboratory Technician, I

Perform laboratory tests, experiments, and analyses. Prepare and weigh samples for testing and analysis. Conduct tests, assays, and other protocols under the direction of a laboratory services manager, physician, nurse, or scientist. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Ensure all laboratory equipment and work areas are clean, sterile, and in proper working order. May be responsible for calibration of instruments. Entry-level support role. Performs routine tasks as directed and under close supervision.

Requires little to no related experience.

This is an Entry-Level position in the Support track.
