University of Utah Health IT Project Manager II in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The ITS Project Manager II leads technology projects for the Information Technology Services (ITS) Project Management Office, working closely with Radiology IT and clinical/operational partners. This role translates project goals into actionable plans, facilitates collaboration across technical and clinical teams, and ensures successful delivery of IT solutions that support Radiology’s patient-care mission. The PM operates with independence, using standard project management approaches to organize work, manage stakeholders, and drive project execution in a fast-paced, complex healthcare environment.

Responsibilities
Facilitate project intake and priority coordination, and lead and coordinate IT projects from planning through implementation and closure.
Supports projects tied to information technology, clinical operations, image lifecycle management, diagnostic workflows, and patient-facing technology.
Develop project scope, schedules, risks, and status reports using standard project management tools.
Apply appropriate methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid) to fit project needs.
Facilitate effective meetings, communicate progress, and escalate issues proactively.
Collaborates regularly with Radiology IT leadership, modality managers (CT, MRI, US, X-ray), and clinical stakeholders to coordinate technology implementations.
Manage risks, changes, and dependencies to support on-time delivery.
Maintain clear project documentation and support continuous improvement within the PMO.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Working knowledge of project management principles with the ability to tailor methods to various technical and clinical environments.
Strong communication and facilitation skills that adapt to technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to prioritize and sequence work across multiple projects.
Sound judgment in navigating ambiguity, troubleshooting issues, and coordinating across teams.
Comfort with IT concepts, systems, and data needed to manage technical and clinical application projects.
Projects may involve imaging systems (e.g., PACS, RIS), integrations, modality upgrades, workflow enhancements, and clinical space technology improvements.
Ability to build relationships and collaborate with multidisciplinary partners.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, or Business Administration or Computer Science or Health Care Administration or equivalent.
Qualifications (Preferred)
Preferred
Previous project management or project coordinator experience.
Project Management Professionals (PMPs) with Strong Knowledge of PMI processes.
Five years of progressively responsible experience in business, healthcare, or IT, including at least two years of formal project management.
Experience working in technical, operational, or healthcare environments.
Basic project management certification (e.g., CAPM) or willingness to obtain.
Master’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or Healthcare Administration.
PMP, CSM, or other PM-related certification (or ability to obtain).
IT certifications (e.g., ITIL®, CompTIA).
Experience in healthcare information systems or healthcare technology project management.
Knowledge of and experience with Radiology imaging systems (i.e. PACS, RIS).
Working Conditions and Physical Demands

This is a sedentary position that may exert up to 10 pounds and may lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. This position involves sitting most of the time and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Hybrid work environment based in Salt Lake City metropolitan area; occasional on-site work required.
Primarily office-based, sedentary role; may require limited non-business hours work for project responsibilities.
