SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Immunization Compliance Specialist II (part-time) in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah
The Immunization & Compliance Specialist supports the Center for Health & Counseling through a dual role that combines front desk/reception functions with direct clinical and immunization compliance responsibilities. Approximately 40--50% of this position is dedicated to front desk and receptionist coverage, serving as the first point of contact for students and ensuring smooth clinic operations. The remaining time focuses on immunization compliance management and clinical services, including vaccine administration and laboratory specimen collection. Medical Assistant (MA) training or equivalent hands-on clinical experience is preferred. The Center for Health & Counseling at Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) is an integrated student health center providing primary care, mental health, and health promotion services for adult students from a variety of backgrounds. Front Desk / Reception Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary front desk contact for the Center for Health & Counseling, greeting students and visitors and directing them appropriately.
- Answer phones, manage electronic and in-person inquiries, and provide accurate information regarding clinic services and immunization requirements.
- Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and support efficient clinic operations.
- Perform data entry and record management within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and related systems.
- Maintain a clean, safe, confidential, and student-friendly reception environment.
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with a diverse campus community in person, by phone, and electronically.
Clinical / Immunization Responsibilities
- Administer required and recommended immunizations in accordance with standing orders, ACIP guidelines, and clinic protocols.
- Perform laboratory procedures including venipuncture, and specimen collection for titers and TB testing.
- Prepare students for immunization-related visits; review immunization histories and determine next steps within defined scope.
- Accurately document vaccines, lab draws, lot numbers, and patient education in the Electronic Health Record.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and follow emergency protocols as needed.
- Comply with OSHA, infection control, and employee health standards to ensure a safe clinical environment.
Compliance Management & Student Support
- Ensure new and transferring international students are informed of SLCC immunization and TB screening requirements.
- Track immunization compliance, place and release service indicators (holds), and follow up with students as needed.
- Review vaccination records, titers, and external documentation for completeness and validity.
- Coordinate e-mail and telephone outreach to students regarding immunization requirements and deadlines.
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent clinic operations, including front desk coverage.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education.
- Complete required trainings and engage in ongoing skill development.
- Represent and adhere to the mission, policies, and procedures of the Center for Health & Counseling and SLCC.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of immunization practices and schedules as recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.
- Demonstrated clinical skills related to vaccine administration and laboratory specimen co llection.
- Strong front desk, reception, and customer service skills in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records, scheduling systems, and basic data entry.
