SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Assistant Professor Advanced Manufacturing in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Regular full-time faculty members teach assigned classes in accordance with established guidelines and policies and participate in advising, committee assignments, other academic and institutional support activities, and supervisory responsibilities as assigned. This faculty position will be responsible for developing, instructing, and maintaining curriculum that makes up the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Technology associates degree programs. Content includes topics in industrial controls, electronics, robotics, electrical and mechanical assembly, and math skills.   

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Instruct courses across two program areas (Engineering Technology & Advanced Manufacturing) which include both theory and practical lab assignments/projects.
  2. Actively engage and assist students and provide timely feedback to students on learning and required assessments.
  3. Track daily student progress and help resolve educational challenges.
  4. Support and educate all students by maintaining regularly scheduled consultation/office hours, advising students on program requirements and concepts that are difficult.
  5. Fully support college and department activities through developing and improving curriculum, participating in college service, and engaging in professional communities.
  6. Work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
  7. Assist the department in the maintenance of classroom lab equipment and facilities.
  8. Provide instruction and mentorship in both lecture and lab environments across multiple electronics and automation disciplines. Areas of instruction include Industrial Controls, Motors and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Instrumentation, Integrated Controls, AC/DC Electrical Theory, Electrical Schematics, PID Control, Embedded Systems, PCB Design, CAD Design, and Electrical & Mechanical Assembly.
  9. Manage and deliver online course materials through Canvas, ensuring that course structure, grading systems, and digital resources support student success. Maintain an organized and professional online presence for each course.
  10. Produce, record, and edit video-based instructional content that complements in-person and online learning. Create and manage multimedia elements to enhance student engagement and understanding of complex technical subjects.
  11. Participate in the Education & Career Pathways Advisory Committee (ECPAC), by attending meetings, supporting PAC growth, and supporting PAC recommendations.
  12. Other duties as assigned.

       Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  13. Daily usage of oral and written English communication skills to support student learning and college business.

  14. Commitment to both teaching and developing curriculum.
  15. Knowledge of high impact practices and active classroom learning.
  16. Use of technology used both in education and industry, including tools used for online course design like Canvas and video editing software.
  17. Grade and track student progress, performing daily grading, attendance notes, and any issues.
  18. Work effectively with a diverse student population and multi-task, teaching and supporting multiple courses/programs for both theory and hands-on concepts and skills
  19. Mechanical design and fabrication skills to create functional, real-world learning experiences. Design and build custom components such as enclosures, brackets, gears, and mechanisms using CAD tools and fabrication methods including 3D printing, laser cutting, and CNC machining---bringing ideas from concept to tangible form.
  20. Subject matter expertise across multiple electronics and automation disciplines. Areas of instruction include Industrial Controls, Motors and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Instrumentation, Integrated Controls, AC/DC Electrical Theo ry, Electrical Schematics, PID Control, Embedded Systems, PCB Design, and CAD Design.
  21. Working knowledge of (1) Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and Variable Frequency Dr ves (VFDs) (2) Solidworks, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk View Studio, and Connected Components Workbench.
  22. Support college and department in meeting all required objectives to support and provide quality skills-based training. Proactively assist in maintaining the student learning environment on a daily basis, to include all student learning resources.
  23. Seek and fulfill responsibilities required of Full-time Faculty, such as professional development, committees, certifications, and support for the Electronics Technology ECPAC.
