Basic Expectations of Smoky Hill leaders are...
? You are responsible for making every batch of concrete correctly
? You have full authority to make decisions and perform all concrete plant operations, record keeping, managing materials, and dealing with owners, engineers and the public.
? You must notify the Project Superintendent, or Project Manager at the first indication of a problem
? You are responsible for managing the assigned crew-usually drivers, loader operators and helpers
? Work with integrity, honesty and fairness towards the company, employees and owners
? Use good judgment to maintain Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Reputation
? Treat all persons as you want to be treated
Concrete Production: Basic Requirements
A. Know the concrete mix requirements
a. Know all materials of the mix and the quantities/cy of each
b. Check the quantities on hand
c. Calculate quantities needed for each material
d. Estimate when each component will need to be resupplied. (Both by date, and quantity of concrete used (CY)
e. Know slump requirements, and arrange for confirmation of slump
f. Know Unit weight of designed mix.
B. Know the pour schedule at least one week in advance
a. Calculate quantities of concrete required for each pour
b. Verify quantities with project superintendent, and with Project Manager
c. Estimate when each component will need to be resupplied. (Both by date, and quantity of concrete used (CY)
C. Request information, training or assistance needed to meet these responsibilities
D. Notify management anytime an event might jeopardize the Company
a. Hourly or daily material use does not match calculated expectations
b. Problems with slump, unit weight, or equipment breakdowns
Recordkeeping
A. Notify Project Superintendent of any accident, incident, or near miss
B. Keep Quality Control reports required by FAA, KDOT, etc.
C. Monitor progress of concrete production, Other records required.
Maintain Equipment......
A. Notify the project superintendent of all equipment noises, problems and malfunctions
B. Watch and listen for problems
