Aerotek Maintenance Technician in Salem, Ohio
Maintenance Mechanic - 1st Shift - Pay up to $30/hr
Job Description:
This role is a first-shift Maintenance Technician position with approximately 80% mechanical and 20% electrical responsibilities. You will support multiple manufacturing buildings by troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of production and facility equipment, with a strong emphasis on mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and preventive maintenance in an industrial environment.
Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot facility and production equipment across multiple buildings and determine appropriate repair actions.
Perform daily preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment to minimize downtime.
Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, and maintain mechanical equipment used in the metal fabrication process.
Disassemble equipment for repair and reassemble it to proper operating condition.
Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual equipment inspections and complete necessary repairs.
Carry out mechanical duties that include working with electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs to keep operations running safely and efficiently.
Repair, service, and lubricate machines and equipment, including CNC machines, welding equipment, cranes, and forklifts.
Perform industrial maintenance tasks such as mechanical repairs and tear downs on production equipment.
Follow lockout/tagout procedures and all safety protocols during maintenance activities.
Support facilities maintenance needs, such as cleaning skids, removing snow, and general upkeep of the property.
Assist with light-voltage electrical troubleshooting and repairs as needed.
Work alongside the maintenance lead on higher-level electrical installations and repairs when required.
Interpret and work from blueprints, manuals, and technical documentation during maintenance and repair work.
Support maintenance of motors, bearings, gears, compressors, hoses, and other industrial components.
Assist with maintenance and repair of robotic welders and other automated fabrication equipment as needed.
Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status and issues to the appropriate team members.
Essential Skills:
At least 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical maintenance background with hands-on repair experience.
Proficiency with hydraulics and pneumatics, including troubleshooting and repair.
Experience performing preventive maintenance and machine maintenance in an industrial setting.
Experience with facilities maintenance tasks such as general cleaning and basic property upkeep.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment such as CNC machines, welders, cranes, and forklifts.
Knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures and safe maintenance practices.
Ability to perform mechanical repairs and tear downs on industrial machinery.
Basic experience with light-voltage electrical work and troubleshooting.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation.
Experience working with industrial components such as motors, bearings, gears, compressors, and hoses.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Experience fixing and cleaning welders.
Electrical maintenance experience beyond light-voltage work.
Experience with CNC repair and troubleshooting.
Exposure to robotic welders and automated fabrication equipment.
Experience with welding processes in a maintenance or fabrication environment.
Experience in industrial, mechanical, or facilities maintenance service roles.
Comfort working around laser cutting, plasma cutting, bending, machining, and welding equipment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with a maintenance lead and production teams.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability and safety.

Work Environment:
The role is based in a large, multi-building metal fabrication operation with over 400,000 square feet of manufacturing facilities. You will work on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The environment is clean, safe, and focused on quality production, with a strong emphasis on using modern, high-end fabrication equipment. The company performs laser and plasma cutting, bending, machining, robotic and manual welding, and assembly in-house, using advanced systems such as fiber laser cutting centers, CNC turning centers, CNC tube benders, and automated punching equipment. You will work alongside an experienced maintenance lead who handles most high-level electrical installations and repairs, and you will regularly interact with welders, machine operators, and engineers. The setting is a busy, production-driven industrial facility where appropriate work attire and adherence to safety procedures, including lockout/tagout, are expected.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
