Process Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Process Engineer to own and enhance manufacturing processes, ensuring improved efficiency, consistency, and overall operational performance. The role involves creating and maintaining process documentation and implementing improvements to minimize waste and enhance quality.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance manufacturing processes to boost efficiency and consistency.

  • Create, maintain, and update process documentation, operating standards, and control methods.

  • Identify and implement waste reduction and process improvement strategies.

  • Analyze process performance using statistical and data-driven methods.

  • Support risk analysis activities and ensure effective mitigation of process risks.

  • Plan and execute validation of equipment, tooling, and process changes.

  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement efforts using Lean and structured problem-solving tools.

  • Evaluate production constraints and implement solutions to improve throughput and flow.

  • Develop and implement error-proofing, visual management, and standardization practices.

  • Provide hands-on support to manufacturing operations to resolve process issues and minimize downtime.

  • Collaborate with Quality to address defects, nonconformances, and yield improvement initiatives.

  • Work with Maintenance to support equipment reliability and preventive maintenance alignment.

  • Support new product and process introductions by developing routings, work instructions, and training materials.

  • Participate in manufacturability reviews and ensure processes are production-ready prior to launch.

  • Establish and monitor key manufacturing performance metrics and drive improvement actions.

  • Build and maintain reports or dashboards to support data-based decision making.

  • Support cost reduction initiatives through process optimization and simplification.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related engineering discipline.

  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering roles.

  • Formal problem solving (8D, 5Whys, etc.)

  • Experience in structured, quality-focused manufacturing environments.

  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.

  • Experience developing process documentation, control methods, and risk assessments.

  • Ability and willingness to work hands-on in a manufacturing setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in industries requiring high product reliability or safety-critical performance is preferred.

  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent training is preferred.

  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems, ERP platforms, or production data tools is preferred.

  • Comfortable spending regular time on the manufacturing floor is preferred.

  • Ability to support occasional off-shift activities during launches or investigations is preferred.

  • Ability to meet basic physical requirements of a production environment is preferred.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Salem, NH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $115000.00/hr.
