    About the Job

    The Safety Specialist plays a critical role in advancing MLC’s safety culture by supporting regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives, with exposure to mining and manufacturing environments.

  • Support the execution and continuous improvement of MLC’s safety and health programs and metrics

  • Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and company safety standards

  • Partner with employees and leadership to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace risks

  • Conduct safety inspections, investigations, and corrective action follow‑up for plants, mines, and contractors

  • Coordinate and participate in MSHA regulatory inspections and related follow‑up

  • Develop, update, and train on safety standards and procedures

  • Deliver OSHA/MSHA training and support learning teams to reduce incident recurrence

  • Maintain safety data, reporting, incentive programs, and Industrial Hygiene sampling (noise, dust, DPM, welding fumes)

    Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related field OR equivalent safety experience

  • Experience: Previous MSHA and/or OSHA‑regulated manufacturing or industrial environments

  • Skills: Attention to Detail. Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all organizational levels. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Willingness to respond to emergencies, including off‑shift and weekend support when needed

    Preferred Qualifications

  • MSHA Training Instructor Certification (IS, IU)

  • Underground mining experience

  • Experience conducting Industrial Hygiene sampling and health monitoring

  • Familiarity with web‑based safety systems (e.g., Dakota or similar platforms)

  • Strong attention to detail and data management skills
