About the Position
The City of Saint Paul Office of Technology & Communications is hiring an IT Configuration Lead that is responsible for the ownership, accuracy, and governance of the City’s Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and the Configuration Management process within the ServiceNow platform.
The CMDB Coordinator will work closely with subject matter experts and operational teams to understand business objectives, translate them into configuration data requirements, and guide teams toward consistent, accurate practices. Responsibilities include overseeing integrations, validating relationships, and driving data-quality initiatives that support service visibility, cybersecurity recovery, and sustainable modernization across the enterprise.
Here's what you can expect to do:
Serve as the process owner for Configuration Management, establishing and maintaining policies, procedures, and quality standards for the CMDB.
Represent Configuration Management in ServiceNow product council and operational and triage meetings to ensure configuration work aligns with enterprise priorities and release trains.
Maintain the structure, data models, and relationships within the ServiceNow CMDB, ensuring it accurately reflects the production environment.
Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to identify configuration dependencies and ensure data fidelity across systems.
Conduct ongoing data quality reviews and coordinate remediation of incomplete or inaccurate records.
Establish and maintain configuration metrics and dashboards, tracking completeness, compliance, and adoption against ITSM and ITOM goals.
Work cross-functionally with technical, operational, and product teams to maintain a unified view of City technology assets and services.
Facilitate regular governance board meetings with data owners, process leads to routinely check on data and services.

Position Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Computer Technology, or a related field and four (4) years of work experience related to the vacancy or a vacancy-related technical school certificate and six (6) years of work experience related to the vacancy.
A combination of education and experience to equal eight years or more can be used to qualify for the position.
May require a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Open Job Posting: This posting is open to anyone who meets the position requirements.
Eligible Lists Created from Open Job Posting: You must receive a score of 75% or higher to pass the assessment and be considered for the position. Non-promotion eligible lists typically are pass/fail and promotion eligible lists are typically ranked. If the open eligible list created contains a veteran, one open list will exist. When there are no veterans remaining on the eligible list (i.e. hired, withdrawn) from an open list that also contains promotional candidates, two lists will be created: one open list and one promotion list. If two lists exist, the promotion list must be exhausted before the open list is considered.
Final Selection Process: Those who pass will be placed on an eligible list for approximately six months and all will be notified of their status. A Hiring Manager will consider those applicants eligible for hire. You will be notified if you are invited to participate in the final selection process which may include an interview, job simulation, work sample submission, or other evaluation method.
Condition of Employment: This position also requires a background check and may require a driver’s license check drug test. Candidates will be required to submit proof of education to Human Resources upon conditional job offer. This position may be subject to limited on-call status for after-hours services associated with the assignment.
