About the Position
Make an impact as an Assistant Library Manager! Are you passionate about libraries, community engagement, and leading a team to provide excellent service? The George Latimer Central Library is looking for an Assistant Library Manager to oversee youth reference services, manage library programming, and support daily operations. This position offers a dynamic mix of leadership, customer service, and community outreach.
Here’s what you can expect to do:
Lead and Support Library Services – Oversee youth reference services, including book collections, circulation, and assisting patrons in locating materials.
Manage a Team and Library Programming – Supervise staff, coordinate schedules, and develop engaging programs to meet community needs.
Provide Direct Patron Support – Assist with reference and referral services, collection development, and ensuring access to library resources.
Ensure Smooth Library Operations – Oversee service delivery, address immediate facility concerns with maintenance staff, and ensure a welcoming library environment.
Engage with the Community – Build relationships, develop partnerships, and create programs that support the educational, recreational, and cultural needs of the diverse Saint Paul community served by the downtown Central Library.

Position Requirements
A bachelor's degree and 24 semester credits in courses leading to an American Library Association (ALA) accredited master’s degree in Library Science.
OR
A bachelor’s degree and one year of professional experience to include at least two of the following: a library setting, project or program implementation, volunteer coordination, team facilitation, customer service delivery, or community outreach work.
OR
An associate degree or two years of relevant college coursework; AND three years of professional experience to include at least three of the following: experience in library setting, project or program, volunteer coordination, team facilitation, customer service delivery, or community outreach work.
Note: Five years of vacancy related experience can be substituted for the degree and professional experience combination requirement above. Vacancy related experience must include professional experience in at least three of the following: a library setting, project or program implementation, volunteer coordination, team facilitation, customer service delivery, or community outreach work.
