Job Title: NPI Assembly Technician

Job Description

Join a specialized New Product Introduction (NPI) team assembling medical devices in the earliest stage of production, before they move into full-scale manufacturing. In this role, you assemble diagnostic machines, blood analyzers, heart monitors, and related products by following detailed digital work instructions and Travelers, using hand tools and torque wrenches while maintaining accurate documentation and high quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble medical devices and components in the NPI area using detailed digital work instructions and Travelers.

  • Perform both mechanical and electronic assembly on products such as diagnostic machines, blood analyzers, and heart monitors.

  • Use hand tools, power tools, and torque wrenches safely and accurately during assembly tasks.

  • Read and follow blueprints, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and other technical documentation.

  • Complete in-process and production documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including medical documentation when required.

  • Enter data and update work status using computer-based systems and digital work instructions.

  • Inspect work for accuracy and quality, demonstrating strong attention to detail throughout the assembly process.

  • Follow regulated work practices appropriate for building medical instruments, including adherence to all quality and safety procedures.

  • Collaborate with team members and leadership, accept in-the-moment feedback, and participate actively in the training program.

  • Support overtime needs before the regular shift and on some weekends, especially during busier periods in the third and fourth quarters.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of experience in a manufacturing environment; medical manufacturing experience preferred but not required.

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to perform mechanical assembly tasks.

  • Experience working with hand tools; experience with torque wrenches is a strong plus.

  • Ability to follow blueprints, SOPs, and written work instructions with high attention to detail.

  • Experience with production or medical documentation and accurate recordkeeping.

  • At least 1 year of experience working with computers, including comfort with digital work instructions and data entry.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Willingness and availability to work overtime before the shift and some weekends as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in medical device assembly or medical manufacturing.

  • Familiarity with Travelers and other manufacturing documentation tools.

  • Experience using power tools in a production environment.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced project environment while maintaining accuracy.

  • Openness to structured, binder-based training and ongoing feedback from leadership.

  • Interest in growing into a long-term career within a manufacturing or medical device setting.

Work Environment

The facility is clean, comfortable, and well lit, dedicated to building medical instruments in a regulated production environment that is not a clean room. The culture is laid back, with a casual dress code of jeans and a collared shirt. Team members use computers throughout the day for digital work instructions and data entry, and regularly work with hand tools, power tools, and torque wrenches at their workstations. Standard hours are a first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the expectation of overtime before the shift starting as early as 5:00 a.m. and some Saturday work, particularly during the third and fourth quarters, with scheduling coordinated in advance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
