Actalent QC Microbiology Supervisor in Saint Louis, Missouri

Job Title: QC Microbiology SpecialistJob Description

Provide technical support to the microbiology Quality Control team while offering quality leadership through staff development and empowerment. Foster a culture of quality awareness, teamwork, and compliance, ensuring the team meets both personal career goals and organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train the Quality team to enhance service delivery through effective communication, scientific leadership, and problem-solving.

  • Provide daily mentorship and timely support for problem requests, complaint records, deviations, invalids, corrective and preventive actions, and change controls.

  • Drive operational performance by identifying, monitoring, and trending quality metrics.

  • Collaborate across functions and sites to troubleshoot problems, interpret data, and resolve next steps using a risk-based approach.

  • Ensure ISO/Quality Management System compliance through mentorship and direction.

  • Guarantee personnel receive comprehensive training (skills-based, cGMP, safety) to support clinical and commercial production needs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in biology required; Microbiology degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 4 years proven experience in a microbiology environment.

  • At least one year of experience in managing a team.

  • Proficient knowledge of microbiology, particularly in troubleshooting and analytical transfer of microbiological assays.

  • Experience in microbial identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing is desired.

  • Demonstrated expertise in regulatory and compliance requirements for microbiological methods and specifications, including ICH, FDA/EMA guidelines, and USP, PH. Eur.

  • Excellent technical writing skills and verbal communication.

  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and engage with employees and customers at all levels.

Work Environment

The position operates on a 10-hour day shift starting at 8 AM, Wednesday through Saturday, on-site. The role requires engagement in a dynamic environment with a focus on cross-functional collaboration and process improvement initiatives.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $43.27/hr.
