Actalent Project Engineer in Saint Louis, Missouri

Job Title: Project EngineerJob Description

The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager and project team in the technical and administrative execution of construction projects. This role manages RFIs and the full submittal process, coordinates project documentation, and helps ensure that internal project procedures are clearly communicated and followed. The position plays a key role in delivering organized, transparent, and collaborative building experiences across healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, and public sector projects. This is a safety-sensitive position when working on job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager and project team to support the technical administration of construction projects.

  • Review and manage all Requests for Information (RFIs) for assigned projects, ensuring timely and accurate responses.

  • Ensure compliance with design documents through skilled review to determine constructability in coordination with building systems.

  • Manage the procurement log and take responsibility for ensuring timely material procurement to meet project schedules.

  • Coordinate and oversee the full submittal process, including preparation, tracking, review, and distribution.

  • Conduct job site meetings, including preparing agendas, facilitating discussions, and documenting meeting minutes and action items.

  • Coordinate the receipt, organization, and distribution of all project records, closeout documentation, and warranty information.

  • Support change order processes by helping to track, document, and coordinate change-related information as needed.

  • Maintain clear, consistent communication with internal teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to support project goals.

  • Contribute to a culture of safety by following safety protocols and wearing required personal protective equipment on job sites.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in construction project engineering or project coordination within commercial construction environments.

  • Strong understanding of RFIs, submittals, and change order processes in construction projects.

  • Knowledge of construction management practices and project documentation workflows.

  • Ability to read and interpret design documents and construction drawings to assess constructability.

  • Proven ability to manage procurement logs and track materials to support project schedules.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, documents, and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with project teams and stakeholders.

  • Ability to conduct and document job site meetings in a clear and professional manner.

  • Commitment to safety practices and ability to work safely in active construction environments.

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to traverse uneven walking and working surfaces at job sites.

  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders up to 30 feet in height at job sites.

  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment as necessary.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field.

  • Experience supporting projects in healthcare, education, municipal, industrial, or commercial markets.

  • Familiarity with preconstruction, construction management, general contracting, and design-build delivery methods.

  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving and issue resolution.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented, people-first culture.

  • Demonstrated accountability, reliability, and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Work Environment

The Project Engineer works in a dynamic environment that includes both office and active construction job sites. Office work involves using standard construction management and documentation tools to coordinate RFIs, submittals, procurement logs, and project records. Field work requires regular visits to job sites, traversing uneven surfaces, climbing stairs and ladders up to 30 feet, and wearing all required personal protective equipment. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $38.00/hr.
