Director of Medical Communications, Menopause

The Director of Medical Communications, Menopause manages the strategy and implementation surrounding the collection, preparation, and dissemination of medical and scientific information on Bayer pharmacological and biological products to physicians, pharmacists, investigators, health care institutions, agencies, patients, and their families. The incumbent is responsible providing guidance, strategic alignment, and pull through in conjunction with WHC Medical Director(s), WHC Scientific Director(s), and working to partner with legal, regulatory, & Marketing stakeholders.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Director of Medical Communications, Menopause are to:

  • The incumbent is responsible for supporting WHC and preparing and analyzing key impact metrics to provide strategic guidance and direction to medical management and business unit management functions;

  • The incumbent will collaborate with internal business partners as an expert consultant to meet specific scientific needs of internal and external contacts within specific therapeutic and geographic areas from a medical communications perspective;

  • Participate in any designated quality assurance review program;

  • Ensures that information systems used by Medical Information Services contain accurate and up to date clinical information, and that this information is appropriately shared within all cross-functional partners in a timely manner. In addition, the incumbent will have responsibility to represent Medical Affairs within the PRT forum and will be responsible for coordinating with cross functional legal & regulatory partners, project owners, & management.

  • Provides the medical information review of advertising and promotional materials on their assigned therapeutic areas, ensuring that information is scientifically accurate and medically appropriate;

  • Collaborates with legal to develop a consistent process and ensure consistent reviews of promotional materials;

  • Participates in or, when assigned, directs medical matrix meetings with internal customers (e.g., Sales, Marketing, Clinical Research, Regulatory, PQC, Legal, GMS) in order to fully utilize and coordinate company expertise in the department’s role of responding to medical and product inquiries and providing internal medical support and to ensure the safe and appropriate use of Bayer products assuring public health oriented responses and to assure the key medical messages are consistent and accurate throughout the company;

  • Provides guidance to assist team colleagues appropriately handle cases of product liability (e.g., compensation and litigation cases) in a consistent and coordinated manner that meets regulatory, legal, departmental and corporate standards;

  • The incumbent is able to leverage between the different stakeholders (internally and externally), understand and commit to GPP compliance and Bayer/customer-specific SOPs.

WHO YOU ARE

Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • A Healthcare Professional Degree (PharmD, MD, RPh, PhD) is required:

  • Experience within a pharmaceutical or medical device company; or equivalent clinical experience (understanding of disease states and drug therapy or an understanding of clinical trials, experienced in medical information processes) required.

  • Experience in a formal drug information center or equivalent clinical experience required;

  • Sophisticated problem resolution skills, presentation skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills and team building skills are required;

  • A strong knowledge of FDA regulations regarding drug promotion, the dissemination of medical and product information is required;

  • The incumbent must reflect the highest ethical standards in decision making and in their day to day activities;

  • A strong focus on customer service is critical to successful performance in this position;

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Computer proficiency required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of industry experience, along with managerial experience is preferred;

  • Experience in budget oversight, administration, and management of personnel is preferred.

Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $180,400 to $270,600. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc.. This salary range is merely an estimate and may vary based on an applicant’s location, market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
