BAE Systems IFF Engineering Technician IV (Navy Combat Systems) in Saint Inigoes, Maryland

Job Description

The selected candidate will serve as a technical liaison and provide technical support to the United States Navy for the AN/UPX-42(C) IFF Interrogator system. Work will include assisting other technicians and working on projects involving Combat Identification equipment including Mark XII and Mark XIIA systems. Will work closely with BAE Systems personnel, subcontractors, and onsite government customers.

The applicant must achieve BAE Systems certifications in soldering techniques and perform basic hand soldering.

Will interpret and work with schematic diagrams, manufacturing procedures, Maintenance Action Forms (MAFs), and technical drawing packages and use hand tools and various measurement tools and devices such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, VSWR testers and IFF Test Sets. Assure calibration and equipment compliance as required. Other responsibilities may include inspection of incoming parts and metalwork, parts requests, pre-expendable bin inventory and maintenance. These skills will also be used in reviewing, writing, and updating technical documentation and drawings, development of technical manuals, test plans and procedures and reviewing engineering change proposals (ECP) for accuracy and applicability. Will travel to locations throughout the US to install, maintain, and test IFF systems on US Navy ships and shore sites. Underway periods of up to two weeks are possible

The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $35.64/hr.

This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.

Some limited relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidate. Applicants must be currently residing in or willing to relocate to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

High school diploma and a minimum of 6 years of experience working with United States Navy combat systems

Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and test procedures

Working knowledge of basic electronic theory. Experience with troubleshooting electronic systems and with aligning and adjusting electronic equipment and components

Experience with general purpose electronic test equipment (GPETE) and special purpose electronic test equipment (SPETE) such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, synchro testers, VSWR testers and IFF Test Sets.

Computer troubleshooting and maintenance experience

At least 6 years of experience in electronic systems, including installing electronic systems equipment and designing, preparing and modifying engineering documents and drawings

Experience with test plans, procedures, schematics, technical manuals, drawings and wire lists

Experience reviewing, writing and updating technical documentation

Ability to follow engineering drawings, change orders, work instructions, and test procedures and review engineering change proposals (ECP) for accuracy and applicability.

Experience using, reviewing, writing, and updating technical documentation such as test plans, maintenance and assembly procedures, schematics, technical manuals, drawings, and wire lists

Willingness to travel to CONUS/OCONUS locations (up to 25%)

Ability to work both autonomously and also within a team atmosphere

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Radar and/or digital system experience

Experience with shipboard IFF systems

NEC 1571 (V06B) or equivalent AN/UPX-29(V) course or experience

NEC 1572 (V07B) or equivalent AIMS system technician

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) - 10 hour certified

Solder skills, ability to solder surface mount devices, Solder Certified to IPC-610

Familiar with using small shop tools such as drill press, punch press and similar fabrication tools

Certified cable fabricator

Flexibility to learn and utilize other similar systems

Completion of 2 year college degree in Electronic Technology or Engineering

Experience developing a Plan of Action & Milestones (POA & M)

Pay Information

This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
