Find your purpose as a Volunteer Program Specialist. The Volunteer Program Specialist is responsible for overseeing the St. Cloud Hospital and CentraCare Plaza volunteer programs and related activities; this opening works with our High School volunteers. Responsible for volunteer recruitment, training and retention to ensure programs are adequately staffed with qualified, dependable volunteers.

Schedule:

  • Part-time 35 hours every 2 weeks

  • Mon-Fri 3:30p-7:00p (Sept-May); Mon-Fri 2:30p-6:00p (June-Aug)

  • Onsite at the St. Cloud Hospital

Pay and Benefits:

  • Staring pay is $22.40 per hour; exact wage determined by years of related experience.

  • Pay range: $22.40-$33.58 per hour

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Associate’s Degree preferred.

  • 2 years experience in health field, youth leadership and/or volunteer management required.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Ability to teach or direct others. Effective communication skills both orally and written required.

  • Ability to communicate and interact with volunteers, customers, and employees in a professional and appropriate manner.

  • Ability to reason, solve complex problems, and work in an environment where activities are characterized by frequent change or interruptions.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel essential.

Core Functions:

  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships with staff to maximize utilization of volunteers in relationship to specific sites, projects or initiatives.

  • Screen, interview and assign volunteers to specific units, departments, or programs, including Auxiliary or CentraCare Health community relations and fundraising activities.

  • Work in collaboration with other organization leaders to create meaningful opportunities for volunteers to provide service, while enhancing strategic efforts to enhance patient/visitor experience and patient safety.

  • Assists with developing and implementing training and education for volunteers, confidentiality and other administrative items (health work updates, required annual education, etc).

  • Oversees training and schedules for volunteers.

  • Maintain volunteer database and prepare reports as requested.

  • Facilitates volunteer communications systems such as volunteer newsletters and electronic communications.

  • Assist in creation of volunteer recruitment marketing plan and development of recruitment materials, including print, electronic media, etc. Seeks out opportunities to promote volunteer programs. Plans and staffs recruitment displays at events.

  • Coordinate volunteer service and service learning efforts with student groups from local colleges and high schools.

  • Serve as staff liaison to volunteer committees as assigned.

  • Assists in recruitment, recognition and retention efforts for the Volunteer Program.
