What You Will Do
The Development Database & Data Strategy Specialist is the backbone of our donor data operations. This position manages and optimizes our donor and constituent systems — primarily Salesforce and WeGive — ensuring exceptional data quality, strategic reporting, and smooth operational workflows.
This role blends technical database expertise, strategic data analysis, and fundraising support. You will help shape donor engagement strategies, enhance stewardship, drive campaign success, and support Development Officers and event efforts. Your work directly empowers our ability to serve thousands of individuals and families each year.
Key Responsibilities
Data Management & System Administration (35%)
Serve as the primary administrator for Salesforce and WeGive, ensuring accurate and timely record maintenance.
Develop and implement data-integrity protocols, including routine audits.
Troubleshoot system issues; collaborate with vendors and IT on resolutions.
Manage integrations with platforms such as event management, email marketing, and payment tools.
Train staff on database use and data best practices.
Data Analysis, Prospect Research & Reporting (30%)
Build and maintain queries, dashboards, and reports to support campaigns, donor segmentation, and leadership decision-making.
Conduct prospect research including capacity analysis, wealth screening, and relationship mapping.
Provide actionable insights to guide donor strategy, stewardship, and moves management.
Administrative Support for Development Officers & Events (15%)
Prepare donor profiles and materials for donor visits and solicitations.
Support event planning with data preparation, guest lists, and on-site data coordination.
Track campaign and appeal progress, ensuring timely updates and reporting accuracy.
Gift Processing & Financial Coordination (15%)
Oversee gift entry, acknowledgment workflows, and compliance processes.
Manage pledges, recurring gifts, and EFT transactions.
Collaborate with Finance to reconcile all donations, stock gifts, and matching gifts.
Finance Liaison (5%)
Research and correct cash entries that may have been misallocated.
Ensure monthly reconciliation accuracy with Finance.
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Experience
Minimum 3–5 years in nonprofit development operations or database management.
Salesforce experience strongly preferred; experience with any donor-management database required.
Skills & Competencies
Strong verbal and written communication.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Exceptional organizational skills; able to independently manage workload.
Flexible and adaptive — able to handle changing priorities.
High proficiency with database systems and Microsoft Excel.
