Aerotek Saw Machine Operator in Saint Charles, Missouri

Job Title: Saw Machine Operator - 3rd Shift

Job Description

The saw machine operator will be responsible for cutting metal using specialized machinery. The metal thickness ranges from 1/2 inch to 10 inches. The operator will perform setup and operation of saws, utilize a sit-down forklift to move metal sheets, and use a tape measure to ensure precise cutting. Additional duties include running shearing machines and verifying stock against work order requirements.

3rd shift - Monday - Thursday 7:00pm - 5:30am (opportunity for overtime)

$22.25 with overnight shift diff

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate saws to cut metal according to specifications.

  • Utilize a tape measure to ensure accurate metal cutting.

  • Operate a forklift to move metal sheets within the facility.

  • Run and operate shearing machines.

  • Verify stock to meet work order requirements including alloy, temper, gauge, size, producer, lot number, and grain direction.

  • Cut and verify parts within customer required tolerances using micrometer and caliper instruments.

  • Mark each part with customer-required identification.

  • Label and mark each remnant as per company policy.

  • Stamp work orders with quality-issued inspection stamps as required.

  • Perform daily and weekly maintenance checks of the metal saw.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area daily.

  • Coordinate pick up of scrap metal containers.

  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures.

  • Operate overhead crane as required.

  • Perform in-process and final inspection of parts.

  • Participate in Total Quality Management (TQM) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) meetings as needed.

  • In smaller facilities, perform additional duties such as physical receiving and packing.

  • Lift up to 50 pounds as required.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 1 year experience setting up and operating machinery; saw experience highly preferred.

  • Ability to read a tape measure down to .32 of an inch and work with decimals.

  • Minimum 6 months forklift experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in metal cutting or skilled assembly of machinery/equipment is a plus.

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Forklift certification.

  • Experience with turret, punch press, stamping press, shearing machines, etc.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Charles, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.25 - $22.25/hr.
