FOOD SERVICE WORKER
ST. CHARLES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS
Starting Salary: $34,638.71 per year
This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position which includes a full range of benefits including Paid Time Off, Extended Medical Leave, Holidays, Employee Health, Dental, Life, Disability, Retirement, and Tuition Assistance programs.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The purpose of this position is to prepare and serve meals to corrections inmates/detainees; clean the kitchen and food preparation equipment. The work is performed under the Food Service Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for preparing and cooking all meals for inmates on an assigned shift.
Prepares or assists in the preparation of hot and cold meat and vegetable dishes, beverages, sandwiches, simple bakery items, and/or other similar food items, as appropriate to the position.
Removes food and beverages from freezers, thaw, and place under refrigeration.
Prepares drink mix containers and/or hot water containers for disbursement to housing units.
Prepares sack meals for inmates leaving out of the facility.
Responsible for reviewing menu diet cards for preparing inmate special meals/snacks.
Loads and sets up delivery carts with appropriate number of meal and special diet trays for disbursement to housing units.
Maintains and ensures all security of food storage areas and sharp kitchen utensils.
Maintain standards of sanitation and cleanliness. Cleans and sanitizes food preparation area and all equipment.
Cleans and maintains all work areas, including sweeping and mopping of all floors, collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
Assist inmate workers in washing dinner trays and other kitchen equipment.
