Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Coordinator

Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator ensures the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of all inbound and outbound shipments while coordinating closely with internal teams and external transportation partners. This role maintains precise inventory and shipment records in the ERP system, supports day-to-day warehouse operations, and helps optimize freight performance, cost, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee all daily shipping and receiving activities to ensure smooth and efficient material flow.

  • Process inbound receipts and verify accuracy against purchase orders and packing documentation.

  • Prepare and manage outbound shipments, including creating Bills of Lading (BOLs), packing lists, and shipping labels.

  • Ensure all shipments comply with applicable regulations, Incoterms, and specific customer requirements.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipping, receiving, and inventory records in the ERP system.

  • Communicate regularly with internal teams such as purchasing, operations, and project/contract management to align material flow with production and project schedules.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with transportation providers and freight partners.

  • Identify, evaluate, and help onboard new transportation partners to improve freight cost, service levels, and reliability.

  • Monitor shipping performance metrics, including on-time delivery, freight costs, damages, and other key indicators.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve shipping discrepancies, delays, damages, and freight claims in a timely manner.

  • Provide guidance and day-to-day direction to other shipping and receiving employees as needed.

  • Work daily on a computer using Microsoft applications and the ERP system to manage shipping and inventory tasks.

  • Apply working knowledge of DOT regulations and Incoterms when planning and executing shipments.

  • Coordinate freight quotes and logistics arrangements for LTL, FTL, and international shipments.

  • Support inventory control activities within the warehouse to ensure accurate stock levels and proper material handling.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in shipping, receiving, or logistics coordination.

  • Hands-on experience in shipping and receiving operations within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.

  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations related to transportation and shipping.

  • Familiarity with Incoterms such as FOB, CIF, and DDP.

  • Experience working with freight carriers and managing LTL, FTL, and international shipping processes.

  • Proficiency using an ERP system for shipping, receiving, and inventory control.

  • Ability to generate and manage Bills of Lading, packing lists, and shipping labels.

  • Working knowledge of inventory control practices in a warehouse setting.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications for daily computer-based work.

  • Ability to troubleshoot shipping discrepancies, delays, and claims and implement effective solutions.

  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with internal departments and external freight partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to oversee or guide other shipping and receiving team members.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a business-related field, logistics, supply chain, or a similar discipline.

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment that produces specialty equipment or machinery.

  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.

  • Experience working in a warehouse environment handling both small and very large products.

  • Comfort working with freight quotes and evaluating transportation options for cost and service.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and recordkeeping.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Saginaw, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $62000.00/yr.
